That Andy NGO bloke who got roughed up by ANTIFA went there hoping to get roughed up so can't say im overly arsed by it. His entire grift revolves around constantly criticising ANTIFA (whilst ignoring far right violence), then going to their events and acting all 'why would you do this' when they inevitably come after him. Him getting webbed is the best thing that could happen to his grift, he'll be loving every second of it.

Why wouldn't he constantly criticize ANTIFA? They're a valueless gang of losers and gutterpunks who serve no useful purpose whatsoever. Their "events" are taunting people in large groups, hitting people with sticks, damaging private and public property and shutting down streets. They flourish like this only in a handful of places, Portland in particular, because anywhere else in the country they'd be treated as the misfits they are.

A gay guy of color gets beaten up during Pride month by an extremist left group and much of the reaction is "well he kinda asked for it." Why, because he has the audacity to report on hate crime hoaxes?

You've missed the point, im not trying to claim ANTIFA are angels or good guys.

Andy NGO claims to be a neutral objective journalist but only ever criticises the left and plays down right wing violence even though its statistically far more prevalent and widespread than far left violence. He's the textbook definition of a grifter, just look at his twitter feed.

He went there with sole intention of antagonising people who already hate him and ANTIFA stupidly (and predictably) gave him exactly what he was hoping for.

I'm not sure he really claims neutrality. He's not exactly a GOP sycophant or anything but his libertarian/conservative streak isn't a secret.

Honestly I don't mind conceding that in a vacuum, he played with fire and got burned. If he was an everyday citizen (not media) who went to an event with violent extremist leftists, I'd say "well, that was kind of stupid to do, but it's still a newsworthy political attack that won't get mainstream attention." But I don't think we want an environment where media critical of ANTIFA can't report on their activities.

In an environment where we're beaten over the head with the "far right threat" and pissant kids in MAGA hats are treated like domestic terrorists, ANTIFA can run wild in Portland while the police knowingly and intentionally don't interfere and our media will largely ignore genuine violence that results. And if someone like Ngo tries to disrupt that, well, he should have stayed home?

There wouldn't be very many "playing with fire" remarks by blue-checked-twitter types if it was a gay asian man who had gotten beaten up at a pro-Trump protest. I think you'd have to agree, right?

Im not saying they should assault him, leave him be... it gives him less to report on. Unfortunately ANTIFA don't think that way, they want to be in the news, they want publicity and they want to punch people they deem fascists or whatever.

I agree some of the stuff about the far right threat is exaggerated (MAGA kid being a solid example), but the far right is definitely on the rise and it just seems massively disingenuous to harp on about far left violence whilst constantly turning a blind eye and sympathising with similar groups like Proud Boys.

Well that's got a lot to do with Twitter generally being far more left leaning than right leaning, Im not sure how it turned out that way but if it's any consolation to the right they still hold the advantage on Youtube with regards to the 'culture war'.

Also it depends what source posts it, if you take a look into the murky world of far right twitter you'll have no trouble finding blue tick conservative commentators making all sorts of dubious comments about gay people, immigrants, commies etc.

There’s always been a lunatic fringe to both the left and the right.

Unfortunately the left and the right’s reaction at the moment to their own lunatic fringe is massively out of balance, as is the level of power and influence that fringe has risen to.

So the Governor of Arizona has pulled taxpayer incentives that were supposed to entice Nike to build a factory there because Nike pulled a pair of runners with a Betsy Ross US flag on them because Colin Kaepernick objected.
