Ok, Americans, couldn't we agree on one thing - that there should be fewer unwanted teen pregnancies? Whether or not you support current law and Supreme Court rulings, can't we keep working to reduce these? Yes, I have a point of view: Abortion needs to be safe and legal so that women can make their own choices in this matter, but there should be far fewer of them. Can't we share that goal? Ugh.

"The Trump administration’s termination of a federal program to prevent teen pregnancy was primarily driven by political appointees, against the advice of experts at the Department of Health and Human Services, NBC News reported Tuesday. Internal notes and emails obtained by NBC show that three HHS appointees who led the end of the agency’s Teen Pregnancy Program have espoused pro-abstinence, anti-abortion beliefs. And that Evelyn Kappeler, head of the Office of Adolescent Health, “repeatedly expressed concerns about terminating the program,” and was kept out of the loop while the program was terminated. Kappeler and her staff reportedly did not know that the grant that funds the program would be revoked “until the last minute.” HHS claims that the program was “ineffective” and “had a negative impact on teen behavior,” despite the teen pregnancy and birth rates hitting a low after the programs establishment in 2010."

Mate, check out his website. I'm still not sure if it's a parody/hatchet job because there's so much, too much, amazing stuff on it.

Wow! But as one Chicagoan put it in that twitter post, this is essentially a non-story as the Republicans will never carry the 3rd district--and certainly not that idiot; the real race was between Lipinski (who is a Republican in a democrat suit) and the challenger. Lipinski and his dad have held a seat there (quite dubiuosly) for a long long time.

looks like he won by about 2%, shame. Still tho, I'd say he's on his last go around.

$80 billion increase in military spending. Sickening. Rich get richer. The good that money could actually do

TBH I wish our Government would increase its military spending, especially if they are going to wind up all our enemies and disappoint all our friends.

Wonder what poll numbers these GOP congresscritters have seen that make retirement a good option.

Chart 3 above shows the overall retirement figures for U.S. House members of the presidential party in midterm elections since 1974. Out of 52 retirements in 2018 so far, 36 retirees have been Republican. This figure is the highest for any presidential party, topping the 31 retirements that Democrats had in 1978 during Jimmy Carter’s presidency as well as the 28 for Democrats in 1994 during Bill Clinton’s White House tenure. Many of these Republican retirements have opened up seats that Democrats are already at least slightly favored to win (e.g. CA-49, FL-27, and NJ-02), have a reasonable chance of winning (e.g. CA-39, NJ-11, and WA-08), or could potentially put in play in a wave environment (e.g. FL-06, NM-02, and TX-21).
