Males and females have evolved to tell the difference between each other for the last 2 million years mate.

Bone structure, muscle mass, limb length ratio, waist-to-hip ratio, fat storage, average height, gait, hip Q angle. This is before we start looking at faces, a mans head is typically 30% bigger than a women's, with the face being 7.3% bigger - men have a more prominent supraorbital ridge and more prominent jaw.

This is why 'gender affirming facial surgery' is a thing, because men and women don't look the same. No amount of make-up covers any of that.

Are we going to be in a society that checks the bone structure and face size of everybody entering a bathroom.

Also, there are feminine men and masculine women. How do they pass the test for which bathroom to go in? Sorry, but your hip Q angle is a little too much like a mans.

Maybe at a higher level sports aspect, where physical exams are common place by default and where they may have the equipment and the knowledge to say, you have an unfair advantage in that particular sport but just in a cultural sense not sure where all the above comes into as a valid talking point, to be honest.

It's an unconscious bias, that's how it works. Females are predisposed to be wary of males, males are predisposed to procreate. It's evolution mate.

And yes, there are masculine women and effeminate men, but they are still men/women and we can unconsciously tell (usually immediately) which one is which.

As for physical sports - I agree, there should be a big thick black line MALE/FEMALE as the differences are insurmountable. Culturally it shouldn't be an issue, fill your boots.

It is just a bit too binary for my liking.

I know this is just a fun example, but thought I would share it. Just to show how easy it may be to not identify somebody correctly, at the quickest of glances, in every scenario, whether it be lighting, substances that can affect perception/reality, etc.

Once in Uni, some of my mates decided to dress up as schoolgirls. I am not joking but my 6'+ mate was hit on on about 4/5 occasions. When we looked at the pictures, the next morning, it was scary how much he looked like a woman, from certain angles and in certain lighting.

Not sure if using alcohol and bad lighting is much if sn argument though.

I do disagree though that you can easily/always tell, I think in a situation where you have no clue that someone might be, some trans people can very easily pass the 'eye test', one example was at a games convention - one streamer i know personally turned up and not a single person realised they were trans, a couple of friends even commented about her in a pretty flattering way afterwards about how good she looked ))

Ofc if you go into say a gay bar, then yeah you're much more likely to be able to tell as you'd be expecting to meet people who are.

Being called "a bit simple" is far worse and really if your going to pick on an insult maybe this should draw your attention. By then again double standards if rift here.

Not that it matters and only means a few more insults will come my way, but I have Mathematics degree and multiple accounting certificates which statistically are some of the hardest courses you can take.
You stand your ground mate.
Don't let them grind you down.
You have your views they have there's nothing is going to change either way.

Genuine question, why choose to not have the surgery, i would think it would be a constant physical private reminder until they do?
The are a few reasons, it could be age, religious background, job security, worried about surgery risks or of course they just don't want to do it.

But another big reason is the waiting times, waiting three years seems to be the minimum and some services it could even be years longer than that. Leaving many with difficult situations of whether to pay privately to complete it sooner. But the costs are a significant outlay, so would stop most pursuing this option.

Unfortunately these waits can contribute to suicide rates, as studies have indicated 82% have considered suicide and 40% have attempted suicide.

With the volume of individuals wanting to transition rising at a rate higher then the NHS can handle. Is why I mentioned earlier it will take at least 10-15 years for the numbers to change from below half to over half having surgery.

I was just reading through your answer and the seven articles linked. On top of work and a fair few replies to deal with today.

We are similar on are views of the police. I too see them as unfit. That is the service and not necessarily the individuals. But yes when there are positions of power then yes some will abuse that.

Frightening is the right word for the low conviction rates. I would say that Trans are 4 times as likely to a victim of a violent crime. So why police not taking it seriously for me has to do with the stigma about guys being raped, add this to officers still believing trans women are men. It really does hamper the likelihood of even a charge nevermind a conviction.

"Transgender- and disability-based hate crimes were less likely to result in a charge or court summons than hate crimes based on a person’s race, religion or sexual orientation."

I believe it is a visibility thing. The ease of judging someone as inferior and the follow up behaviour to that. It has been enabled and seized upon by the easy answer bloody foreigner brigades. (brigades). We are still in the aftermath of the Windrush scandal. The hostile environment. I remember the 80's and the stigma and blame shame of the aids epidemic. A very nasty and targeted hateful era. A certain part of the uk seems to have always required someone to dislike and make suffer. Black, Irish, Indian/Pakistani origin, Chinese, Gay, Female, Trans. It's always some powerless minority usually very uncapable of fighting back. All egged on of course by a british scum press only to happy to see and report and sensationalise death and destruction.

My question still stands please.

Thanks for taking the time to give a detailed answer, it's something that I've wondered about why not to fully transition (obviously I know some people are very adverse to any surgery never mind a serious set of surgeries - I'm guessing it's more than one).

The thing about the waiting list is honestly abhorrent - especially so given the ramifications of delaying in this.

Areas like this are the things that should be getting discussed way more - the thought of someone likely spending a large period of their life agonising over who they are, finally deciding to change to become this, and then being told 10 years sorry, can't really explain how cruel a system it is.

The option to pay simply won't even exist for many, and likely those in the most urgent need will mainly fall within that group too.
