RIP Speedo, still remember his debut for us, upstaged Shearer on his, thought we were onto something real good then, opening day optimism.

Not afraid to admitting to shedding a tear watching the doc of him that featured his family, and past team mates and assistants, sad watch.

Speculating about something that ‘probably did happen ‘ just doesn’t feel remotely appropriate . We’ve no idea what did or didn’t happen in his life other than it was a terrible loss .

To be fair, it’s entirely appropriate if it helps put the guy Bennell behind bars.

It may be relevant, it may not be . The terrible crimes need investigating and where appropriate punishing but In total fairness with Gary not here it Just feels a bit tawdry to have him involved in the discussion . The witness has the right to mention it if he feels it’s appropriate but to have The man involved in this discussion here , as with many and varied ones before it doesn’t feel respectful to me personally.

I agree. It feels utterly irrelevant to the actual trial anyrate. He has already been proven guilty on numerous accounts, so why lob Speeds name in to the mix which will only upset his family.

I found it a bit odd too. Especially as it stemmed from a victim Bennell had already been convicted of abusing. Fair enough he's giving evidence about the continuing impact it had on him and detailing his sense of the impact. Not sure he needed to name Speed. And if the people he referenced hadn't made allegations or their accounts were not part of formal charges I'm not sure what purpose it served. Surely more powerful to obtain impact statements from those whose testimonies form part of the current charges?

Makes my blood boil. If I had my way Paedophiles would be wiped off the face of the earth. Vile excuses for humans. At very least they should all be kept away from society for as long as they’re physically capable. They can never be trusted.





To be fair, I don’t see how this is mud flung over his memory. He was the victim here.

As someone who’s seen suicide close up, I know the guilt his loved ones will carry. Why? What could I have done to prevent it etc... Hopefully this revelation will help them understand his troubles. RIP.

I remember reading the news online Sunday morning and not really accepting it. There was nothing posted on the forum I was with at the time (footymad), so I checked a few news sources hoping there had been a mistake. Can't imagine what he was feeling for him to believe that suicide was the only answer. So very sad. RIP Gary, and may your family also find some peace and comfort.
