To be fair, the abuse directed at Sam by our fans will be a bit bewildering for outsiders. We knew what we were getting with him and he's only done what we (and all outsiders) knew he would in the position, yet 90% of the frustration seems to be directed towards the manager rather than those who hired him.

As for the "saved us" comments, he's miles off and probably guilty of bedwetting over particular results, such as the Southampton scoreline, not unlike many, many posters on here.

No worse than his quote about Tosun needing to net 20 this season.

"Cenk Tosun: I haven't been totally convinced by Tosun's performances since he arrived at Goodison Park and I rather suspect neither has Sam Allardyce. To suddenly single Tosun out for special praise is a sure indication of the manager's relief that the striker [who wasn't cheap] is now hitting the back of the net on a more regular basis.

His two goals against Stoke, in appalling conditions, smacked of a natural striker's instincts. Allardyce now suggests 40 points allows Everton the luxury of building for next season. I suggest those building blocks centre on Tosun scoring 20 goals otherwise both manager and striker could end up on Everton's cutting-room floor."

I'm disappointed in Everton's fans. They're a special club and the fans are normally right behind the manager, but they haven't been with Sam Allardyce and that's been really disappointing. Allardyce saved them and if the chief executives have got any bottle at all, they'll give him another season.

Is there anything this man won't do to make sure Spurs win something some day?
