I've just watched his performance and apart from him being an absolute tit for the opening goal he was our best midfielder. Gueye was utterly useless, Schneiderlin offered nothing and Davies put the effort in but just couldn't affect the game.

Gueye would have been first on the list for me to hook off.

I'm not saying Koeman was right to pick Barry either, having him and Schneiderlin together is absolutely pointless. Barry wasn't anywhere near as bad as was being made out on the match thread though.

When Besic is fit again, Ron will be spoilt for choice for the DM position. Just imagine, we can play four DMs in a 4-4-1-1 formation. Happy days!

Robles

Coleman Williams Holgate Baines

Davies Gana Morgs Besic

Barkley

Rom

Joking BTW

lol

And Jimmy Mac on the bench just in case.

No no no no no. The whole team is affected by Barry being on the pitch. Just because he's not booting the ball out of play and getting tackled every time he's on the ball doesn't mean he's playing well. When the opposition have the ball it's akin to having 10 men when he's there, because they just breeze past him in midfield as if he's not even there. We cannot afford to carry him any longer, it was embarrassing watching him try to chase Alli and Eriksen around yesterday.

don't agree Mike, it had nothing to do with him the rest of them being totally crap. Like I said mate, I'm not endorsing his inclusion but I've just watched that full game and he was nowhere near as bad as the others. It wasn't a case of them trying to cover for him either, they were anonymous so it was like playing with 8/9 men and that's not including Barry in one of them!

I agree with the Gana point. The lad had no role in the side that suited his strengths. With no link up players ahead of him and Spurs swarming he looked lost any time he had the ball.

Aside from the first goal, Spurs shied away from going through the middle as well, so he was bypassed defensively.

Time to log off Gareth

I'd say Barry's biggest problem in the game was he was caught on the ball too much (he just happens to give it away in the worst areas because well- that is where he plays lol). Gueye and Schneiderlin were very poor, but yeah no way Barry should have been in the starting lineup.

the thing is, you can actually see it after just 10 minutes. The shape is wrong, where he is playing is wrong, he doesn't know when to tuck in or offer width. It was such a pointless set up after last week he was looking dynamic making excellent bursts through the middle whilst also tidying up scraps with Morgan.

Gana was playing a pressing role which would work against a team that doesn't move the ball well. He was out of position and I think that affected his game a bit.

But we were pressing only in our half, so whenever we won the ball back it wasn't in a dangerous area and had sod all options.

Like I said it didn't work at all LOL. Koeman had to shoe Gana into the lineup if he was going to play Barry (which should have never HAPPENED).

Barry only makes sense if we have a threat in behind their high line for him to dink balls over to, though I don't see why Morgan couldn't have done that.

We should have matched Spurs and had a proper toe to toe battle.

Having that many CDMs in the starting line up was madness. They were all stepping on each other's toes not really sure who should do what. Barry would've played better with one CDM beside him I feel BUT the whole team would've played better if we swapped Barry with Mirallas or Lookman or even Valencia and maintained the recent shape that's brought us success.

Shoehorning him into the starting 11 wrecked any impetus we had going forward and he was a liability to be accommodated for when defending.

He doesn't fit with the quick tempo direct football that Koeman has had the team playing since the turn of the year.
