Oh come on, he had a good game, unless you have the mentality of a spoilt seven year old ( which you don't normally display ), it really wouldn't hurt to acknowledge that now would it ?

He was alright today. My point is always that he doesnt deserve automatic selection first choice because he's not good enough. He's played well today but has put in very poor performances v Liverpool and Leicester as well as plenty of others. I remember when some players like Osman would play well 4 out of 5 games yet if that fifth game was United away some fans would jump on him for 'reverting to type'. Barry can play 4 out of 5 poor games yet when he turns up in the fifth one some fans are on here saying that his critics are wrong. He's not good enough regardless of what he did today. hopefully Schneiderlin retires him.

He has been terrible for ages tbh, maybe being in a midfield 3 rather than a 2 suits him at this stage though. I for one hope we never see that 4-2-3-1 eyesore of a formation ever again.

See, although it was a bit grudging, that wasn't that hard was it ? I know how you feel though, I have to clench my teeth when I go into the Robles thread to say he played well, but I do it to show that I'm not that arsed about being right or wrong on the internet and it probably makes @Joey66 feel good when I do so too, which is an added bonus !

He's not been automatic first choice for a while though has he ? Recently he's only been starting because of injuries and/or because Gana's away.

He played well at the beginning of the season, and has had a run of games where he's been poor.

Essentially you made your mind up on him ages ago and are doing the polar opposite of what you're accusing others of. In other words, if he plays poorly, you're all over it like a rash, but if he plays well you'd like to quietly ignore it.

I'm consistent. I think he's not good enough for us and have seen enough evidence over his time with us to support that opinion. Variances over a game by game basis won't change that view now. He can have a good game every now and then, he can have a bad one, at his age his performance level is not going to suddenly shoot up, and his average level is no longer good enough. I've tried to lay off the subject of him this season but any time he doesn't have a horrendous game I'm tagged in this thread as though I've been completely proven wrong.

If anyone seriously thinks he's good enough to be first choice for a team wanting to challenge top 4 then fine. If people just want to use his 1 in 6 decent performance for some point scoring I don't really care. Of course he's capable of a decent performance, there's just no longer enough of them over a season to warrant him starting games.

I'll say it again; I don't think he can play the way Koeman wants to play. Davies and Gana (hopefully Schneiderlin and Jimmy Mac) can press high and harass the opposition like Koeman wants. I'd like to keep Barry for games where we wait for the counter. I do not want him in games where we are looking to dominate the midfield because we will struggle.

I must have missed that...
