Gana Gueye and Morgan Schneiderlin

Gana and Schneiderlin look like McCarthy and Barry did in Martinez' first season.

Schneiderlin is dropping back between the centre backs, allowing Coleman and Baines to surge forward.

But Martinez couldn't take this any further forward - let's see how Koeman handles it.

Why are people arsed how many fouls he gives away if he card count is relatively low? Lots of fouls these days and necessary and intentional to prevent counter-attack goals (instant yellow there) or just to disrupt an opposition team when they get too comfortable.

Our whole squad has been soft as tits the last few seasons I don't mind some yellow cards that aren't given to Gaz.

On the link that Dave posted earlier it was less than 2 fouls pre game anyway. Hardly a lot is it? Especially for a defensive (minded) midfielder.

Lee C and Tommy Grav are still one of my fave CM parings

The Bald Bombshells

Fair enough, but Morgan and Gueye are proper footballers.

Well I think all four of them are/were proper footballers being that they are/were footballers who happened to play football with other footballers in front of football fans in football stadiums and were members of the PFA, which will only let you join if you're a footballer. I mean, you can try joining if you're a chartered accountant but you might struggle...

that young kid Lookman looks like he's going to be something.
also the experience/success Barry has adds something to the squad

buzzing with the whole of the midfield defensively and attacking wise
best ive seen it in a long time.[woops i forget the god in Besic]

Good analogy.

I think McCarthy failed to get forward enough in later seasons and that would have been the impetus we needed - even though he was implored to.

I reckon he was always having to drift out wide to cover for Coleman's forays upfront and didnt feel he could do that and get forward too. He certainly has a forward surge in him. Injuries have blighted his development too it has to be said.

What I meant Mikey was that Morgan and Gueye know how to play football.

Under Martinez, Barry filled in for Baines at LB when he bombed forward and McCarthy for Seamus at RB. We still kept the same system but with Schneiderlin dropping between 2 CBs it switches the system to 3 at the back, keeping the weight in midfield when attacking. Seems to be working really well!

As did Lee C and Tommy Grav mate, otherwise they wouldn't have played it professionally at a high level, something that your or I would have been incapable of doing

Now you could say the other two were better footballers if you felt so as that's a matter of opinion, but to say The Bald Bombshells couldn't play football and weren't footballers is a factually incorrect statement, because they did play football and were considerably better at it than your average man/woman on the street

The other thing that helps is that wide men are working their socks off and lending a hand when Coleman and Baines do get forward.

Graveson wasn't bad when his mind let him play, Carsley was the master of a three yard pass, never rated him.

As a paying supporter I'm entitled to have an opinion, what's your problem with that, you liked them, fair enough, I've got no problem with your opinion just because it's different to mine.

I'm not bothered with you having an opinion at all

I'm bothered with you making factually inaccurate statements

Saying "Gana and Morgan are better than Lee and Grav" is an opinion, and I have no truck with it, nor would I especially disagree with it

Saying "Lee Carsley wasn't a footballer and didn't know how to play football" is not an opinion, because it is factually incorrect, because he was a footballer and he wouldn't have been one if he hadn't been capable of playing football. You can't say something that is wrong and then excuse it for being an opinion

It's like saying "In my opinion 2+2 = 5". No, it's a fact that 2+2 = 4

But if you said "I don't think Lee Carsley was a good footballer" then that's an opinion. I wouldn't entirely agree with you but I wouldn't have an issue with it either, because as you say you pay your money and that's your right. Can you see the difference?
