Seriously though, read the books.

Read anything else similar to Thrones?, need Ideas to fill the gap until Winds of Winter[/QUOTE]

Have you read the excerpt from the new book on the authors site? I recommend the Thomas Covenant books by Stephen Donaldson (all three series) - very dark. Terry Brooks stuff is good as well (particularly the Word/Void series).

And before you say they're not similar, think about it...

If you don't like LOTR I don't really think you'd enjoy this much.

Guys, lets be honest, if Joffrey really did accidentally castrate himself you'd have never believed it in the first place as it sounds that absurd. Chill.

Can we update the title to include SPOILERS INCLUDED please.

Some of you have just destroyed the third season for me. Howard f*cking Webb.

what you dont realise is that howard webb shows the dragon queen the red card, steals her dragons and becomes king.

just ordered the first 4 books.
I tried to order book 5, a dance with dragons, but chapters says its not published until Oct 2013.
Wikipedia says that book was first published in 2011.
Can anybody shed some light on this?

To be honest I prefer non-fiction, only read ASOIAF after a colleague at work spent about a year going on about how boss they were. As such, all I can recommend are Serge Lancel's Hannibal, and any of Ian Mortimers books - especially The Greatest Traitor.
