Definitely think Stannis is dead in the show but has a role still to play in the books, he's my guess for the twist grrm said is happening next book that can't happen in the show because they killed off the characterPeople who think stannis is alive need to remember the old sword of bravos.
Not everyone dies on screen

Game of Thrones star Stephen Dillane slams show as 'too brutal' to watch
The actor, who played Stannis Baratheon, admitted he couldn't watch the show despite starring in it
Actor Stephen Dillane said Game of Thrones is too 'brutal' for him to watch.
Dillane, 58, does not have to watch for much longer as he confirmed that his character Stannis Baratheon, who appeared to meet a sticky end at the hands of Brienne of Tarth in the series five finale, is dead "as far as I know".
He told RadioTimes.com: "It's pretty brutal, I couldn't watch much of that anyway. It's hardcore. Too tough for me. It's just too painful.

"It's pretty intense, quite overwhelming, the whole world of it is pretty overwhelming."
Asked what he got out of Game of Thrones, he replied: "Money."
Asked if he got any professional or personal satisfaction from the series, he reportedly said: "Er, no."
Despite saying he did not "blame" people who stopped watching after his character ordered his daughter to be burnt alive, Dillane backtracked and said the show was "fantastic".
He said: "I don't dismiss it at all. I think it's fantastic. I think it's an extraordinary thing. An amazing phenomenon. A really amazing phenomenon.
In response to the question of whether Stannis - last seen about to be beheaded - is really dead, he replied: "As far as I know, yeah."
Funny how the build up has been low key compared to the pants wetting insanity of the last series. The cast must have been on extras for every time they mentioned ' it's the most amazing best series ever'This is gunner be a face eating teath jangling car crash ,I can smell it!
