This. He isn't a nice character at all. Killing his brother, spurning his wife, using black magic. He has killed innocents before.

It was hurriedly done, a bit of time showing him getting increasingly desperate would have made it more believable but less of a shock I guess.

this, I think there should have been a final 'convincing' scene with the red witch woman...but I guess they didn't have time, show needs to be longer...
