Game Of Thrones: Season 8

This has gotten crap tbf. Jesus, the writing just went off a cliff
Maybe I was just desperate to get past the White Walker nonsense, but I actually enjoyed episode 4. The characters regained some personality and started scheming for the crown again- even if it is a bit too predictable. Episode 3 was an aids B- Helms Deep remake and deserves to be killed with fire.

I still reckon the point of no return was when they wrote off Baelish- particularly the way they wrote him off. It almost made everything he had done to that point inconsequential. It’s as if he was too complicated to deal with, so they got rid of him.

Love him or hate him, he was probably the most complex character in the series and definitely added to the appeal. Everything is a bit too predictable now.

TBF Baelish is approaching the end of his usefulness even in the books - once Bran gets back to Winterfell or gets into communication with the rest of the family and exposes what Littlefinger has done, which might be even more than in the show, ie:

... being the one to start the war before this one (ie: the one where Robert seizes the throne) and causing the deaths of Lyanna / Neds' brother / Neds' dad as well as his betrayal of Ned himself and all the other stuff like what he did to "Arya", killing Lysa and plotting her sons death

... then one imagines that someone is going to do him in, if not Arya then someone else.

This has turned into the stupidest, most telegraphed garbage I've ever seen. It takes some effort to be this inept but the writers have managed it

I liked the episode but it felt like about 3 eps in one. The pacing was just all wrong. And that was always going to be the case given that they've crammed everything into six eps. Stupid.

Like. Why the hell did they waste so much time in Season Six and Seven, ffs. The pay off isn't a pay off because it's all rushed.

The dragons might as well have been pointless now, too.

Like I said, I liked all the individual bits of the episode, but it could have/should have been done over two eps.

The 'shock' at the end was a shock, but it's also just a huge plot hole to get her there in the first place.

The writers have truly messed it up at this stage. They're way in over their heads and using every cliche in the book to get out of it it seems.

The first half of the episode I actually liked, it was well paced and all made logistical sense really.

It's so stupid what they've done to rush it all into six eps. They could have had 10 episodes and nicely paced them out. It would have paid for itself.

The second half - the contents would have been fine had it not been totally rushed. That last half-an-hour is two episodes worth.

It's crap that it's come to this now. Really crap. One of the best shows ever ruined by clueless writers who've been totally inept since actually having to come up with their own story (not that the books are without fault, by all accounts).

how come she just stood there? I was thinking she may grab or push cersei...

Dont like what happened with Brienne in that episode, made her look a bit weak imo.
That's what that good D, does to you, gurl.. *sassy snap of the finger*
To be fair, she had already fell in love with jaime. Probably for the first time in her life she felt respected and had what she wanted- and Jaime is gonna ride off to his death

An entire hour episode for a party.

Tbh, that was the bit I was okay with. It was paced like the GoT of old, with some scripting issues, but overall wasn't too bad. Then it just hurtles us around the world in about ten minutes again.

Where were Jaime and Tyrion drinking that Bronn could just waltz in? Why is he an aggressive whopper all of a sudden? Is he just going to head back to King's Landing now? Why didn't Cersei have them all shot at the wall when she had the chance? She has never payed attention to the rules of engagement before. Those spears can hit a fast moving dragon from miles out, surely just smash the one in the distance? The pacing and narrative are so grim now

They can’t slow it down like old GOT yet with so few episodes to go.

The Bronn scene was really weird; I understand he’s a cutthroat but Jamie is like his best friend so I thought he might come across a little more conflicted than he did.

Misandei -
She was manacled. I don't think grabbing or pushing was much of an option.

I didn't have much of an issue with the Bronn scene. This is a man who has stated he'd kill babies for gold and it's about time the show got back to the fact that he's a psychopath. The gamble he took in this episode is entirely in keeping with the gamble he took at The Eyrie.
