Game Of Thrones: Season 8

Just seen the latest episode. The scriptwriters are good at creating suspense, this is one of the few series that has truly gripped me. However, the writing in this series lacks intelligence it subtlety.

Denerys flying her dragons, and bringing her fleet needlessly near kings landing - my thoughts were - why in earth would she do that, when her ground forces are a long way off?
Why didn't she then fly being the fleet that was firing at her and torch them from behind while they turned?
What's going on with security at Winterfell when a sellsword, whose been nowhere near the battle can waltz up from the south to the Lanisters with a crossbow in his hand?
Archer's ordered to draw and hold. Ever drawn a bow? You draw, aim and loose - you don't draw and aim at a subject indefinitely. That's what crossbows are for.

I guess this is what happens when you get Hollywood apes to take over from a writer with imagination and research capabilities.

OK..

Denerys will try to kill John and possibly succeed as she is going mad with power like her father.

Jamie will kill Sersie for the good of man.

Arya and Sansa will get rid of Denerys.

Sansa will be queen.

The hound will kill the mountain but die from his wounds.

None of my predictions are ever right though...

I can see John (whatever his actual name is) going to live in the ‘north north’ with his wilding pals

What annoyed me most was how they were ambushed by the enemy fleet. She’s on a dragon flying in the sky. So the enemy fleet can see her and her dragons but she can’t see them? Ridiculous.

Plus they were clearly somewhere near to kings landing. Do you not think they might have been on their guard?

Machine gun balistae, inept usage of dragons, even more teleportation, most scenes ourside castles/Winterfell seems really emtpy and everyone is suddenly breaking character...
Can't say I'm confident that the show will get the send off it deserves.

Almost every series that gets popular is taken over by “Hollywood apes” and run into the ground. I just wish George RR Martin and the HBO bros could have starved a little longer. Particularly that lardarse Martin.

Someone did the math, those ballista's are firing bolts with more than 3 times the force of one of the SRB's used to propel the shuttle to orbit. Also travelling at 1800m/s (which is about 4000mph).

Bloody decent ballista's!!!

(Not withstanding the fact they shot multiple times, with pinpoint accuracy, unsighted, from a moving platform, at a fast moving airborne target. And then proceeded to completely miss a target much closer and basically stationary with about 80 shots)
