Brilliant spectacle (minus the lighting) but I was disappointed in the narrative. The last three episodes have to do something special to rescue the conclusion to what has been my favourite show the last decade. I must stress this is all my opinion and speculation, but I've always felt that the show-runners really didn't give a damn about the WW and some of Martin's much more detailed and expanded mythology and I think that shows in this episode. Believe me I'm not one of those people who loves the books ( only read the first two) but I can't believe that this is how he's going to end the narrative in his books. Hopefully there are more twists and turns to come and I'm made to eat my words here. Some of the things characters did in this episode where just absolutely bonkers as well case in points being
Dany landing her dragon forcing Jorah to come rescue her and subsequently die. Jon squaring up to the ice dragon. Samwell Tarly the entire episode...just [Poor language removed] that guy. Also the disdain the show-runners have for Ghost is ridiculous. "[/SPOILER]
Also the director and show-runners said Helm's Deep was the benchmark... I think they fell short of that. In Helm's Deep you could at least see what was going on the majority of the time.
