They despise us rover. Dont give em an inch!

Galway were 2 points up there with 15 to go. They had then on the ropes but got a nose bleed.
Mate they actually love us. I have been through the mill for decades following Dublin, but the best fans I have met were Kerry. Many times late at night in Kerry and nothing but friendliness. Connemara - a completely different experience

I'll put it on my radar for next staycation

Im with Death don’t give them an inch, still gutted about the semi.

Fair play to them today, but i think the title is anyones over the next few year, football has evolved in the last four years to my mind.

Shane Walsh incredible today, best player in the country to my mind.

I cannot for the like of me get football. I'm sure there is great skill in it, but I just don't see it.
Today's game as far as I could see was an average game , I don't recall a keeper making a save, and possibly only one goal scoring opportunity ( Galway , 1st half ). The pundits and commentators said it was a super game.
Clearly I'm wrong as the stadium is full to the brim . Perhaps I view GAA football the same way others view cricket.

I was very impressed with Galways performance even though they didn't win. I think Kerry having a stronger bench was the difference between the teams.

If Galway find a decent keeper and improve the depth of their panel, then i see no reason why they can't go one better next year.

Pat Ryan of course is the new Cork hurling manager. I feel Cork have appointed the best man for the job.

The talent is in the county, but i feel an all Ireland could possibly be another three to four years away. The players have the skill but they need to toughen up like!

I think Waterford have made a serious mistake giving Davy Fitzgerald a second stint as manager though. I thought he only did an average enough job with them first time around.

He was joint manager of Dublin in 1986 along with Sean Doherty and Robbie Kelleher, but i'm surprised that he never got another chance to manage Dublin.

He did well as manager of Derry as well. They won a league title in 1996, and an Ulster title in 1998 as well during his tenure as manager up there.

There was a great story about Brian in Larry Tompkins book. Brian and Larry were teammates with Leinster in the Railway Cup.

Anyway in the dressing room before the game, there was a discussion about how to deal with Jack O'Shea who was in the Munster team. An enraged Brian Mullins who was the captain knocks over a table, and yells don't be worrying about Jack O'Shea i'll deal with him!

Anyway Leinster won and Brian comes up to Larry and a player on the team from somewhere like Carlow or Laois.

Brian presents the two lads with the trophy and say's, here you are lad's you two don't get to see many of these things that often. Take it away with ye.lol

Mick Holden and Brian Mullins on the Dublin side are now sadly deceased, and Corks captain in 1983 Christy Ryan sadly passed away last year. Cork were unlucky not to win the first day, but they were comprehensively beaten by Dublin in the replay with Brian very much leading the Dublin charge.

I have an amusing story about Christy here. In the run up to a Cork and Kerry championship game in the early 80's, Christy said to a journalist from the Evening Echo, that he had this dream where he played the game of his life, and that Cork destroyed Kerry. Hopefully my dream will come true this Sunday.

Well on the day of the actual game itself the reality was somewhat different for both Christy and Cork, but the with the game nearly over, the dark mood was lightened by this remark from a Cork supporter in the crowd. I think you've been having the wet dreams again Christy!lol

I was there in 83 against galway but as I was on the Hill (getting soaked) I didnt have a clear view of his sending off. However, it seems that after the incident, and it was clear that Brian was being sent off, something happened which incensed the Dublin players and led to the "tunnel" incident.

All these years later, let bygones be bygones, and may Brian and Mick Holden RIP. We won Sam that year with 12 players and that was never done before or since.

I was also there for the SF against Cork with my dear late Cavan Dad. Absolutely thought we had lost it until the very late equaliser.

Galway saw what Dublin did to Cork in that replay, and from reading accounts of the game in the Irish Newspaper Archive, a Galway county board official said before the game, that Cork were too soft in that replay and we won't make that same mistake in the final.

So it was Galways plan to cause trouble and look for a fight, and that's exactly what they got. Galway have lost a lot of all Ireland finals in both codes over the years, although i have a lot of time and admiration for their hurling team of the 80's. Both of Corks all Ireland wins against Galway in 1986 and 1990 were fine clean and sporting games.
