Whether you rate him or not ( and i do ) that bid is a derisory offer for an established premiership player by anyone's standards.

Yeah 5 mill + half their first team spuad, still 6 mill is just as bad!

I know i could be contorversial here, but does anyone else think that this particular media publication might be telling a porkie!

I don't see why we should lose money on him.

He's still 26.

I still dont see why so many want shut of him.

10 goals, he was out with ankle sugery for 2 months and didnt feature that much to score as many goals as he did.

We paid £8.6 when he was in a lower division. He's still only 26, and has continued to score goals in the Prem. Whats everyones problem?

£5m is a wind up.

plus if we really were to get rid of the players who werent good enough, regardless of who thinks what imo Anichebe should be the first we cash in on.

I remember when we bid for Davis (Stephen?) when he was at Fulham before he moved to Portsmouth. THe venumous response from Fulham was on the lines of "How dare you bid for one of our players. Anyway, you're a club more likely to get relegated, so [Poor language removed]".

We could do no better than resending them their own missive.

I'm not sure why people hate AJ so much. And if we did sell him, we'd only have Yak as a fit forward, as Anichebe is off at the Olympics at the start of the season, Vaughan is not fit enough, we've already sold Mcfadden so unless we buy another forward (which is not our most pressing need at the moment) we need him.

Sean Davis that was mate, hes now doing the rounds for about £2m.

Think he moved to Spurs then Pompey.

It's a "testing the water" bid and I would expect them add another £2m to that if they get encouragement. If we can pull in £5m for Faddy then I would think near to £8m would be about fair for AJ. He's a British striker and they always come at a premium. He won't go to Fulham, though.

If, in today's market, a cart horse like Gareth Barry is worth £18M we need an offer of at least £10M for Johnson to even seriously consider selling.

10mill (and could be more if they're battling for him) is tempting. But who do you get in? The only one I can think of is Bent. But how much, and how much does he want a week (he's on 70 grand or something isnt he?). How much is that Spanish fellar Guizah going for?

Strikers better than AJ cost more than 10mill, anyone else is either a gamble or not good enough.

Also, if Sunderland and Wigan rate him so highly and are willing to spend that much, the boys got talant in my eyes.

These are the teams that spent 9 m on Craig Gordon, 5.5 m on Kieran Richardson, 5 m on Michael Chopra, and 5.3 on Jason Koumas - they have not exactly set the premiership alight

If we sell thats another replacement needed.and in todays market you would not get a decent player for the amount being offered.(n)
