Typical overstatement when it comes to this argument

Literally no one thinks he’s gods gift to football managing

Whoscored make ratings for each team and each player for each match. Players are given marks for blocks, clearances, key passes, goals, assists etc.

On an average game Tarks makes both more blocks and tackles and aerials won than Keane.

I see. Again, there's absolutely nothing on that site that tells me James Tarkowski is the best PL centre half out there. Even their own simplistic ratings system confirms this when you filter player ratings by position so what their original tweet about him being the best means I have zero idea.

A rating system btw that doesn't account for a myriad of things that would inform an opinion on a player. Positioning, getting turned, getting caught out by balls over the top, lack of pace, unpunished errors etc etc.

I doubt many scouts are recommending players based on whoscored.

Moyes has literally saved me, basically a saint at this point. All hail him. Doubt he will stay so long considering his age but he can stay as long as he likes with these results.

The “best in the league” rating was for Jan 26th, they didn’t think his performance vs Fulham was that great so he dropped down but he is still pretty highly rated.

I agree that it doesn’t account for several items and I’m sure there is more extensive data out there that scouts use. However it is easily accessible and takes some of the (perhaps unconscious?) bias out of how we all see players, especially if you don’t watch every game for every team, and is a neutral data set to compare players.

You are very welcome to provide alternative info that shows Keane has often been better than Tarkowski this season, which was the original post you made that I was pushing back on. Otherwise we’ll just have to agree that our own opinions of the players, based on watching them play, differ.

We must be the easiest team to be preparing to play against. He sets us up the same way, with the same players when available. He has no plan B when things are not working, its just change one or two players but continue with plan A.

Can't be that easy considering only Arsenal have a better away record.
