Free players

Free agents can be terrible for the club as you normally have to pay them more in salary to make up for the lack of transfer fee (player greed). Just look at Sanchez over at United and how he’s destroyed the wage structure there.

Bernard was a good one but I don’t think we should be attracted to players purely because there’s no transfer fee.
Agree its prob more beneficial to pay big for young upcoming players like Richarlison who'll be happy to earn under 100k per week. It's the wage bill that's considered in FFP also rather than transfer fees isn't it?

Christ. The thought of considering someone on £100k a week being a good deal is nauseating.

I get what you’re saying, it’s just totally mad that’s the current state of affairs.

I think Richarlison is 70k a week but yeah it's still mental... But I mean u mention Sanchez isn't he on like 350k a week or something mental as he was a "free" lol

I remember Andy Cole going to Utd for £7m + Keith Gillespie and thinking that was a huge deal. Average players going regularly for £20m, £30m+ now. Difficult to fathom.

Not sure why I picked the Cole transfer to use as an example.

That’s exactly the situation we should avoid. Man U and Arsenal (although under offering circumstances) have created for themselves a really bad situation.
Agree, think we got lucky with Bernard! I don't even wanna know what that Lossls getting paid a week to sit on the bench!

bit of a lazy link today to Mangala, some may remember we had him on loan 17/18 season from January and he got snapped early on and barely featured. He has been released by City, I think he might be worth a go, not as a first choice, but I think could be back up. I think you need 4 CB's and at the moment we only have Keane, Mina and Holgate. Hopefully we will get Zouma, but it wouldn't hurt to have Mangala lined up, if we don't get Zouma

sorry but no, One of the worst defenders I've seen.
Absolute lunacy City bought him, He's Senderos tier.

The RS should resign Sturridge on a free.

NAILED ON to come on as a sub in the 87th minute of derby matches, and SCORE.

;)

Kompany isn’t available, Godin isn’t, Giroud isn’t, pretty sure Caballero signed a new deal. Isn’t Herrera pretty much signed with PSG? Milner wouldn’t come. Balotelli isn’t free I don’t think.
Balotelli should never be free, better locked away for everyone’s safety.
