Ah right thought he was an AMC.

Nah mate, he will probably look that way on a youtube search like but he's actually much more gibbo than barkley, be a great player to have but doubt he'd be willing to be a backup for mccarthy and barry, and i wouldnt swap either for him atm the way they play together, shame like as if theirs one thing we do lack its a good through ball player from deep

EDIT: as a note its the one thing that worries me a little, with the squad the way it is, its actually pretty hard to think of ways to improve it now, without displacing someone who frankly doesnt deserve to lose their spot, outside of squad depth etc, and its hard to attract players to a non european playing team as squad players who have the required quality

Just another note though here mate, theirs a lot of players i've seen now playing in the Russian league who i think could do a great job for us, then kinda gotta remember the level here is about the same id say as Holland overall, plus the lesson of billy still is fresh...

You've got a very good point in that it can be hard to bring someone as a squad player since we are not playing in an european competition, but we still need depth at CM and Striker positions because, honestly, I don't think Barry and McCarthy will be able to play in every game without tiring and consequently losing form. We need a couple more players to stay in the fight to finish in the top 4 and hopefuly win the FA Cup.

Maybe we will be able to attract some players with the way we are doing in the league and our new attacking style of play, plus Martinez seems like the type of manager players love to play for.

Also Fernando and Natkho are different types of CMs. One is an athletic tackler who's a sound passer while the other is more of a deep lying playmaker, with some nice skills, good from set pieces and has a goal in him. So it's a case of what type CM do we need more right now and for next season.

May sound harsh mate, but Long to me just sounds like a moyes type signing, hard working, committed, but lacking that certain bit of quality, had best part of 15 years watching that caliber of player at us and its a breadth of fresh air to have finally something here that gets us excited instead

Long is like Cahill perhaps in his industrious style, but you are making out like we never got any Baines, Mirallas, Coleman, Bily, Pienaar etc style of players.
Never loaned any Drenthe, Donovan, Fernadez types and just went for Barry/McCarthy style of players, which just isn't true.
The breath of fresh air is the style of play, not Moyes being unable to buy anything but a poor/industrial calibre of player.

I'm not a fan of moyes anymore either but that just isn't true. He had a very good record with signings. Far better than most managers.

I think his point was mate that moyes record with signings isn't fantastic if you only look at the ones he payed significant amounts for, its much better when he was shopping in the bargain basement so to his real talent was getting players for next to nowt, when he started spending more on a player he was a lot more miss than hit, dunno why that would be the caee but it deffo was

Just read that these guys are all out of contract in 2014 an could all do a decent job for us squad wise at least.
Chris brunt - west brom
Sebastian Larson - Sunderland
Younes Kaboul - spurs
Peter Whittingham - Cardiff
Billy jones - west brom

My main point was more that i've seen too many industrious types without the neccasary skill playing for us mate, wasn't talking about moyes not buying skillful players occasionally which he did ofc, comparing long to cahill is doing a disservice to cahill, he had a better scoring record than long from mid, plus was a beast at set piece defending, longs just a bit meh in the naismith sense of the word
