Hopefully we have all the tools in place to build over time with Lampard at the helm. Obviously it's always good to improve the team with transfers where we can and all that but in theory this team could need very few changes in the next 3-5 years. Think about it, Pickford is supposed to be signing a new deal, the full backs are young, Tarkowski and Coady could both be part of the squad for years but even still we have Branthwaite to come back and we could add another starter there in few years, thats' 1. Midfield is seemingly sorted for ages outside of depth because Garner will be Gana's replacement in a few years. Up top it's just a matter of bringing in quality rather than necessity.

If we can largely keep our starting 11 for 5 years then all going well that's incredible consistency, means we'll only have to improve where and when we want to not necessarily panic buying last minute like we've done before or worse still not buying at all and having players like Coleman playing more than is fair to him at his age. We'll have 1 CB that we have to buy in the next few years, that's it, the rest will be entirely up to ourselves and hopefully what Lampard and Thelwell can see as weak areas to improve on, not just fill with a body. Potential to be exciting times ahead for us blues, obviously can't get carried away at all but I'm really hopefully that we can actually get some continuity at this football club that we haven't had since Moyes.

We're in a fantastic position with Lampard where if he does well the only place he'd want to go above us would be Chelsea and he may not even want to go there again for a number of years after what happened the last time. I think he'll do very well for us, hopefully for years to come.

Stop playing Doucoure please Frankel

The rest is sound
In a weird way playing him today instead of Garner could be good for Garner, only on twenty minutes but 3/4 times completely cocked up possession, one on s great scoring chance and the other leading to a dangerous counter by them.

Doesn't look suited for how Lampard wants us to play really

Yep, really wanted to see Garner instead of Doucoure

Hope the doubters have finally acknowledged when he 1st came he tried to play a certain way.
He got a very sharp reminder that the players he inherited couldn't play that way.
He then adjusted to get us over the line.

Now we see the 1st glimpses of the type of players he wants and the system he wants to play with them.
This was always no overnight cure , staying in the Prem was paramount.

It will take time but he has a good solid basis to work with now , more goals will come I'm sure, once the midfield start chipping in with a few.

But there us definately a sense of unity and progression , just need to be a bit patient and watch it grow.
Do no underestimate the overnight ( or 45 mins cure) of staying in the PL....

Without it all of the positives you’ve touched on may well have been many many overnights away...

Grateful to be heading in the right direction and long may I continue?
