AFC Fylde vs Cambridge United
23rd November 2027

=Cambridge result.webp

Mel Pope came in for the suspended Bret McGavin after the midfielder picked up five yellow cards. If you were to predict the first goalscorer you'd have your money on Euan Henderson and he delivered on 18 minutes getting on the end of the long ball over the top from Johnson and putting it to the side of the keeper. Cambridge had a great chance to equalise when they fired the ball into the box but the header was just over the bar, Foster looked beaten. Pope found Johnson with a beautifully flighted pass which set the winger off down the right, he crossed for O'Neill but he had his header saved, he was quick to follow up and knocked the ball in for Fylde's second! Wisdom took the corner on 65 minutes towards the back post for O'Neill but Gibson won the ball and headed it across his goal, Johnson tried to turn it in but it deflected to Pope who's shot was blocked, Feeney with the half volley into the top corner! What a strike! Feeney with his first of the season! Mitchell Gale provided a wonderful cross for David Gibson on 72 minutes, the striker getting clear of Morton and striking the ball at force past Foster to give Cambridge a glimmer of hope. O'Neill had a great chance towards the end of the game to make it four but he put the shot wide of the post.

York City vs AFC Fylde
4th December 2027

=york result.webp

Rochdale closed the gap to five points winning their game in hand putting Fylde's position at the top under pressure. It was the first meeting of the two promoted sides in League Two and York were not having the best of seasons in 17th place. The first half was tense with no sides able to break the deadlock, Dimitri Sea had a particularly quiet first half for York. Fifteen minutes left on the clock and both sides had chances to win the game but the defence was playing well as a unit. There was a coming together between Paul Nurse and Bret McGavin both going in for a 50/50 with Nurse coming off worse, both players stayed down for a while with Nurse having to leave the field. Into stoppage time and a minute to play, Allaway wins the flick on to Henderson who breaks clear down the left and crosses it into the box for Allaway with a one on one but the keeper saves it. Wisdom runs over to take to corner, McGavin wins the header and it hits the bar and goes over. The whistle is blown and it's a draw here in York.

DF: We should have done a lot better, I think the lads realised we were playing a team that gave us a tough time back in the National League! McGavin has picked up a slight ankle injury which will keep him out against Coventry and Josh Ferguson has picked up a knock which could see him miss it but they both should be back for the F.A. Cup

AFC Fylde vs Coventry City
Checkatrade Trophy Second Round
6th December 2027

=Coventry result.webp

Two days later it was the visit of Coventry City for the Second round match in the Checkatrade Trophy, Ferguson made changes to his team and slammed the fixture list after having an eleven day break leading up to the York City match. Sam Allaway started the match with Simpson, O'Neill and Danny Smith in support. Billy Price got a start in midfield and Kyle MacDonald replaxced Morgan Feeney. Fyle lost possession the Coventry half on 8 minutes and it allowed White to come forward, play the ball into the feet of striker Bowen who scored past Foster. White and Bowen linked up again this time Bowen lost Nathan Smith and scored his second on 19 minutes. It went from bad to worse for Fylde who were out of sorts when White got on the scoresheet before the end of the first half. Paul Townsend replaced Sam Allaway for the second half. Allaway had a poor game. Mel Pope forced a good save from the keeper with 25 minutes to go winning Fylde a corner. Price took the corner but Townsend fouled in the box resulting in a Coventry free-kick. Ferguson seemed reluctant in bringing any of the bigger game players on, he firmly had his eye on the F.A. Cup match this coming Thursday. Billy Price played it to O'Neill on the edge of the box and the striker hit a curling left footed shot towards the top corner but it was inches wide. It looked like it was in from one angle. With five minutes to go O'Neill played it out wide to Simpson who used his pace down the left, he passed it to Townsend inside the box who struck first time into the bottom corner. A consolation goal for Fylde. Coventry kept possession for the remainder of the game and it was the end of the road for Fylde.

DF: I used the squad available to me and unfortunately we lost today. Coventry took their chances and all credit to them. I gave players a start who I thought had something to show me and there was one or two who did ok. I have a better understanding of a few others and there may be some players who could find it hard here in the future.

Aldershot Town vs AFC Fylde
9th December 2027

=Aldershot result.webp

It was a Thursday night F.A. Cup Second round tie between a team vying for promotion from League One and a team having a fantastic season at the top of League Two. Ferguson brought back the big guns for the F.A. Cup game after giving players a rest against Coventry on Monday night. Seven minutes gone when McGavin played it to Ferguson who created space for the shot and hit the post, the ball rebounded to Henderson but he put it into the keepers hands! What a chance! You would have banked on him to score that one. Aldershot had a free-kick on ten minutes 25 yards out, the ball is crossed into the box, Mlton flicked it on to Scott at the back post who guided it in to put the home team in front. A minute later, Johnson hit a long range effort that hit the post, Fylde just not having that little bit of luck so far. Morgan Feeney signalled to the bench on 20 minutes, the defender holding his knee as he left the field and replaced by Kyle MacDonald. Henderson came forward at pace trying to get Fylde back into the game but his right footed effort was just wide of the post. Simon Scott done all the hard work getting through the Fylde midfield and then rocketed a shot into the roof of the net to double Aldershot's lead. 58 minutes gone and Aldershot lost possession from the throw-in near the Fylde touchline, Johnson came forward with the ball and lofted a long ball for O'Neill who got on the end of it and the keeper parried the ball for a corner. Townsend came on for O'Neill and made an instant impact when Johnson got clear down the right and crossed for the striker whose shot was saved from close range. A few minutes later Fyle cleared the corner up the pitch towards Townsend who done well to cut inside and play in Henderson who broke into the box and hit a hopeful left footed shot just before the ball ran out of play and it went in off the defender who tried to clear it! Fylde came forward again with Johnson showing trickery to get clear down the right, he played the ball in to Townsend whose shot was saved and cleared by the defence. The Fylde fans behind the goal were getting behind the team ferociously. Al;dershot can't live with Fylde's intensity but Fylde need to make it count. Fylde were giving it their all but there was a lot of tired legs out there as the game ran into stoppage time. It ended with a victory to Aldershot tonight and they will go into the F.A. Cup Third Round with a home tie against Gillingham.

DF: The first half performance cost us, second half we played more attacking and almost got something out of the game. We can't dwell too much, we have to turn our attention to Sunday and focus on our league performance which has been outstanding. Bryan Johnson has picked up an injury which will see him missing for the next month. This time of the season is crucial and it is important we don't drop our heads. We have a few lads complaining of fatigue and injuries are creeping in. The intensity in this league is different to that of the National League.

In other news, Fylde were keeping tabs on 17 year old left winger Ben Greaves at Oldham Athletic and 17 year old attacking midfielder Mitch Moor at Doncaster. It is too early to say whether Fylde have made contact with the clubs in question.

I am ready to attack

Its a good job I'm round at me mums having me 2nd roast dinner of the day otherwise I'd be right round there Jimmy with the Taser I borrowed off Hairy Bazza who robbed it from Alfredo's Ford Mondeo that had been in a slight scuffle with the local police station wall and they tasered him cos he wouldn't stop singing Yazz's The Only Way is Up

Chesterfield vs AFC Fylde
12th December 2027

=Chesterfield result.webp

Danny Smith came in for the injured Bryan Johnson and Paul Townsend earnt himself a start with Tyrone O'Neill behind in support. It was 18 minutes on the clock when Scott Clark rifled in a free-kick from 20 yards out to give Chesterfield the lead. Fylde were lacklustre in attempting to win the ball back inside their own half and Stephen Duke-Mckenna was presented with an easy tap-in at the far post. A nightmare start for Fylde. Fylde failed to have a single shot throughout the first half and on 39 minutes Tyrone O'Neill was brought off for Josh Ferguson. Fylde were fortunate not be on the receiving end of a beating as Foster kept the ball out on many occasions and Chesterfield had some golden chances which they seen go wide. Paul Townsend got on the end of Okoroji's long bals and played it wide to Smith who crossed for Henderson and he headed just inches wide. Scott Clark was clinical again curling in a free-kick with ten minutes to go to inflict the first defeat of the league season for Fylde.

DF: This was the worst performance I've seen this season. There was nothing, no fight, no desire, nothing. I expect better than what I seen out there, there was no excuses for such a terrible performance.

AFC Fylde vs Crewe Alexandra
18th December 2027

=Crewe result.webp

Ferguson states he wants the defeat to Chesterfield to drive the team forward and that the pressure was off the players shoulders for the remainder of the season. Danny Smith got on the end of Feeney's headed clearance and created a counter attack on 9 minutes, he played it to Henderson but the ball was behind him and it required more work to be done, he managed a shot on his right foot but it was wide. The first half ended with both teams level. The best chance came on 60 minutes when Wisdom crossed in from the free-kick to the back post and Feeney won the header which hit the post before being claimed by the keeper. O'Neill got on the end of Smith's long ball and the keeper done well to turn it round the post. It was a game with a lot of dissent and Chima Okoroji picked up two yellows in the last 7 minutes reducing Fylde to ten men going into stoppage time. 95 minutes on the clock and Danny Smith lined up the free-kick on the side of the area, he crossed to the near post and Henderson won the header but he put it just over the bar. The last chance of the game and it's a draw for The Coasters.

Yeovil vs AFC Fylde
26th December 2027

=Yeovil result.webp

The boxing day fixture was an away trip in Yeovil. Tariq Lamptey came in for Okoroji at left back and Bryan Johnson was a surprise inclusion on the bench after his recent injury as was Tyler Garrett who had also been out injured. The first half was dominated by Yeovil but they failed to convert any of their chances. Fylde failed to register a single shot throughout the first half. The second half had little action and Fylde came forward on 89 minutes, second half substitute Johnson recieved the ball in the box and slotted it home! But the flag was raised and Johnson was offside. A quiet afternoon of football and another point on the board for Fylde.

DF: We didn't play well. We were fortunate to come away with a point and I demand more. We are close to throwing away all our hard work so far this season.
