Seen him control games on many an occasion. On blob Arteta is untouchable

Sadly he doesn't. He's a very talented player and he has the ability to easily control a game but he always plays it simple. He doesn't show enough ambition in his play for me. He rarely tries killer balls and he doesn't look for the ball enough.

When I talk about controling games I mean dictating the pace, demanding the ball and creating. Arteta gives you nice plays and dribbles but he doesn't grab the game by the scruff of the neck.

To be honest he does play outwide so it is harder to dictate but even when he's played central midfield he doesn't do it as the Liverpool game at Anfield proved.

The main reason Arteta moved to the right wing is because he needs time and space to do his stuff. If he's mixed up in the rough and tumble he struggles.

Fernandes isn't perfect but he is a player who wants the ball no matter if he's in the final third or outside his own box. He also has the ambition and quality to try and excecute hard passes. He's played more through balls in his two spells here than Arteta has in a few years.

If I had to pick a right midfielder it would be Arteta but Fernandes is much more suited to playing centre midfield. He's physically stronger, just as gifted and has more vision.

Yeh great skill that, so he went 10yds forward then 10yds back with the ball then laid off a simple ball.
Prime example of flattering to decieve

Thats a prime example of composure and class. The aim of the game is to keep the ball and Fernandes did that.

we were 2-0 up, what do you want him to do? run from his own goal line and score??

1st he wasnt on his own goal line when he recieved it, 2nd he had no reason to drag it back on the by line he could have tried to take it on.
Its what i have been saying, he showed some good skill then did nothing with it. Flatters to decieve

Flatters to decieve how? Please explain.

Just have, did some skill but did nothing with it. He had a chance to push on and create something but he backtracked and ended up giving a ball back in our own half

He did some skill and kept the ball. You create chances by building patiently and getting others involved.

He had one forward option and that was Anichebe standing behind his marker and not moving. Arteta is the only player on Fernandes's wavelength and giving it to him was the best option. If anyone's going to create somoething its Arteta and not Anichebe.

Fernandes naturally plays deep. Most of his play is made in his own half.

Stop it on 75:35. He has a chance there to either go down the wing and create something or draw the defender and pass to Anichebe. He does neither of these instead choosing to backtrack back into our own half
There is no way Arteta wouldnt have gone forward and tried to do something

If the player's name in question was anyone other than Manny Fernandes, this discussion wouldn't even be taking place.

The vast majority of Evertonians want him to stay, either by purchase or loan agreement.

So I'm guessing that the vast majority are deluded in their opinions of Manny while the select few think he's a [Poor language removed] footballer.

Fortunately, a picture (or Youtube video) is worth 1000 words.

So endeth the conversation.
