Fellaini

Difference is teams were actually interested in signing those players and were prepared to pay top dollar.

Fellaini has offered himself to juventus and kenright has practically said he is for sale and still no bids. You could see this happening a mile off

Do you have a link mate?

What had annoyed me is that inflation on transfers will rise this summer due to the extra money. This better be the last time we ever do transfer clauses in contracts. Its will be Mirallas next.

As anyone ever thought when Feli signed his last contract his agent made it imperitive that the release clause had to have that price in it or he would have not signed his contract then & sold then with his contact running down we would have lost his services & got even less???

Course mate. Spot on. The only sell on's that benefit clubs are stupidly prohibitive ones like they use in Spain. We don't really do that over here.

If there's a clause in a deal it'll be because someone had the upper hand on the club and the agent took advantage of it.

a positive spin? don't think its permitted. we were 16th at the time and he was beginning to look like a massive asset, obviously signing a contract with no security for the player was the way to go. the clause actually could be relevant to Everton's position, which is very common. who knows.

There may be one scenario that's a win-win, but it relies on co-operation from the player: a CL team triggers the clause but Felli says 'no thanks'. At that point, theoretically, Bill says 'ok, we've extinguished the clause - now tell me what you will bid for me to agree to let him go under his contract'. In other words, Bill decides to sell at his price.

Straws, clutching, hopeless....

I'm torn now between wanting to keep one of our best players, and using the money to overhaul the squad.

I think Roberto's conversation with him on how he plans to use him may well be key. He's stated previously he prefers a DM position to an AM one so if Roberto wants him to play as part of a central two that may make him give us another year.

But at the same time we need extra squad depth and he's the player we'd get the most money for. If we kept the squad together except for Fellaini and Heitinga and 100% of any transfer fees received were added to the transfer kitty we already have (rumoured to be 8-10million) then we could do great things to the squad

I'd sooner keep him as I can see one or two good players making this side a genuine threat to those above us, regardless of who they sign. Continuity is important as as most are changing managers and will most likely change a fair bit we could pull a stroke by keeping our changes modest.

It's attitude and application that I want to change about us more than personnel.

agreed squad needs strengthening but this isn't always down to money in hand. spurs haven't really strengthened after Modric went. people know they have cash to spend and they have spent poorly. the option is there to strengthen knowing we have assets on the pitch if we struggle, but without clubs seeing us as desperate. our first team is still just one or maybe two players short of being more than good enough so we are mainly looking to strengthen below the first team, which is probably better done without ceremony. look at how Liverpool got ripped off when people knew they had cash to spend

If true, the £22million fee was really bad negotiating. Release clauses are usually set at the very top end of the players worth..

That is the very top end of Fellaini's worth, if 22 million is such a bargain then why hasn't there been a single bid for him?

Not bothered about JH as he is on top money so we will save on wages just like we have saved on DM Felli though I would like to see just one more season and if Martinez can get us in the top 4 its a big ask, but if Felli satys & Baines & Martinez can bolster the squad with good players on last seasons showing we are not far off but it is dependable on those things mentioned in this post maybe a big IF!

definitely an if, but not a huge gamble, Fellaini is always going to be an asset, but the manager will have a clearer idea of where to spend money and hopefully set it in motion before a sale. on top of this I love watching Fellaini play and other players in the squad seem to like him being there

Hopefully RM will be able I still a belief that we can go out and play to win every game as opposed to not losing some of them. We know we can best anyone on our day, lets make the team believe it too

I have heard reports of 24 million release clause - but if any of the teams want him they will have to bid more to get his services! Then again Felli if he wants to go can choose any team who meets the release clause in his contract! He will also have to consider if he will p[lay every week in a top team as he is guaranteed a place in ours!
