Fellaini

De Bruyne would be a huge upgrade on Fellaini. I'd love a player + cash deal there.

André Schürrle's projected move from Bayer Leverkusen to Chelsea has moved a step closer after the Bundesliga club's general manager said a fee has been agreed.

Schürrle, who is understood to have agreed personal terms with Chelsea, is on international duty with Germany in the US and will likely head to London to finalise the deal after his release from the national team.

The 22-year-old is set to join the Europa League winners in a reported £20m deal that will see the Belgium international Kevin de Bruyne move in the opposite direction on loan.

"We have reached an agreement with Chelsea," Wolfgang Holzhäuser told the Rheinische Post newspaper.

"They are going to buy André Schürrle for a specific fee and, in return, they will loan De Bruyne to us for a year for free.

"I expect Chelsea to stand by what has been agreed."

De Bruyne's involvement was key to the agreement being struck and the deal was thrown into doubt when the player indicated he preferred to join Borussia Dortmund.

Kevin De Bruyne has admitted he is in the dark over his Chelsea future and fears he may have to go out on loan again to keep his World Cup dreams alive.

The Belgium winger, who spent the season with Werder Bremen, could be playing for any one of four teams next season after provisionally agreeing terms with Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Schalke and waiting to hear whether he will be wanted at Stamford Bridge.

Dortmund are keen to sign him on a permanent deal, while Leverkusen have been applying pressure to take him on loan as part of a transfer that would free up Germany forward Andre Schurrle's £20million move to Chelsea.

Nothing has yet been agreed, despite claims in one German newspaper last week that Leverkusen had a deal in place, but De Bruyne senses he may be farmed out again as new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho looks for proven talent rather than potential.

With places up for grabs at next summer's World Cup finals, the 21-year old conceded he would rather be playing in Germany than sitting on the bench at Stamford Bridge.

'I haven't spoken to Jose Mourinho, so I don't know what he thinks of me as a player or what his plans are for me,' he said ahead of Friday's qualifier with Serbia.

'Logically, at big teams like Chelsea, the manager tends to go for the more experienced players and the younger ones have more chances at smaller teams.

'For me, who the coach is doesn't really matter. What counts is being at a team where I am going to play games. I want to progress and improve as a player, and I need to be playing to do that.

'Really my future is something for my agent to sort out with the clubs. All I can say is all options are open. After the Serbia game, I am off on holiday to Los Angeles for a fortnight. At the moment, I don't know if I'll be spending pre-season at Chelsea or somewhere else. We will see what happens.'

Kenwright should really koff. Got no money and we have no choice but to sell our stars players to fund new players. I hate Billy Liar.

Would love to have him, even if it was just a loan.

Scored 10 goals and had 9 assists in a pretty average Werder Breman squad, you would think we would be able to get him on loan, I would have thought he'd be keen to finally settle into England and move to an English club where he would be able to get quite a bit of game time.

With Jose coming in he may either be happy to ship fringe players off or he may be planning on big things for him.

so..in summary...no-one knows if there is a release cause that involves a set fee, or as seems more likely, as this s what the player has said, there is a standard clause that allows him to talk to a club if certain conditions are met and he wants to go, which he doesn't. kenwright may fancy the money, although this is based on an assumption and could be wrong as his statement could have just been honest and unnecessary, but we know will not sell him without the manager demanding it. the manager has said he doesn't want to sell anyone. The rumour has come from a site that makes things up and the headline reads something like; 'Arsenal launch sensational bid to release Fellaini transfer clause' . the language of a 12 year old. they also have an ad next to it encouraging people to bet on them for the league.
the other significant thing I reckon is that Arsenal fans generally are drooling at the idea of getting him, but this thread is full of fans talking about players who are probably not as good as him and may not fit in if they are, rather than the best midfielder we have had since the eighties. Martinez seems sensible enough not to spend till till he knows what is needed, and won't want to be spending to replace a crucial player until he has more experience. come on please just a few posts about how good he is, how he loves it here and how good our midfield is starting to look. or do I have to go and read Arsenal fans for that

Would love to keep him for another 12 months and see what he like under Martinez, I don't believe Moyes got the best out of him, and wasted him upfront.

yep, a player who is world class in his right position and prepared to play anywhere he is put and will still be effective. not that easy to get even at 15? 22? 24? 30? miliion

If it's Arsenal, they'll want a bargain.

Anything less than 25 mill shouldn't happen as we've got to get a percentage to Standard with the sell on clause.

Kenwright with his usual double speak has said no players for sale but on the otherhand Fellaini could go, It would seem that is the only way Martinez will get funds. It looks to to be an invite to other clubs to make an offer never mind the talk of a release clause

I'd be surprised if Roberto was indifferent about Fellaini going or staying, and it's most probable that he wants him to stay.

If I'm right, I don't think Everton will sell.

It bothers me that Felli might go for a silly fee. I know that some don't rate him that highly, but most, by far, do, and if you look at some of the players who've moved for similar fees that have been mooted about him - 20 to 23 million - it would be a joke
if he went for as little as that.

How many defensive midfielders can move up when required and score a dozen goals?

it could be that, but it could also be that he knows he will get a load of stick about Fellaini going should he change his mind and decide to leave. the situation you have described really involves Fellaini, Kenwright and Martinez all sort of lying. the negative interpretation I have of what has gone on is that Moyes did plan to sell Fellaini and convinced Kenwright that Osman, Neville and a useful box to box mid could do Fellaini's job and he has an extra ten mill plus in his pocket. Martinez has come along and said if I come here then I don't want to have to sell anyone, Kenwright has said fine, but sneakily makes reference to the fact that it is not 100% the managers decision. Martinez clarifies that he will not sell anyone unless he wants to. could be wrong, its speculation, and I think its prob not that negative, but the facts as I see them are that the player wants to stay and the manager has been told he won't have to sell to buy
