Fellaini on Moyes

The best part about the story for me, is that in punishing Fellaini by making him come in, Moyes also didn't give himself the day off. Moyes could have easily made one of his assistants supervise Fellaini's training and spent the holiday with his own family, but it's a very strong message to Fellaini that Moyes is in fact doing this for Fellaini's own good, and is willing to sacrifice personally to do so.

Truly the mark of a top manager. Tactically we've all had our gripes with Moyes, but he really knows how to motivate and develop players.

A top manager would have nailed this at source avoiding the need for "beastings" - Felli has been all elbows and pushing and shoving since he arrived.

Just confirms the one dimensional management style so evident on the pitch - people judging this as marvellous really aren't thinking.

Yeah, like Mourinho who's a top manager. He'd have made it out as if Fellaini was being targetted specifically by the FA, the referees and opposing players all season.

Or Wenger, claiming he hadn't seen the incident.

Or Alex Ferguson who'd have probably choked on his gum while kicking a boot at Fellaini in the locker room.

Or Rodgers who would have said that, they dominated the possession, okay.

Difficult this one,

My own theory is this is very much a stern school teach approach for simple punishment taking away his own personal time and extra work on too of that to ensure the impact of the action was noted.

Why was Fellaini arsed about Christmas anyway? He is Muslim, no?

I think he handled it the best way he could, if Felli had been made to stay in and train with say a junior coach and Neville he'd have probably flipped and seen it as extremely arrogant and petty of Moyes.

Think he earned a bit of respect by taking it upon himself to discipline Felli, something that the team and squad has needed in its entirety for the whole to gel and understand the spirit of the group.

i like the way premier league news page on facebook twisted this:

Fellaini: "The manager is ambitious & it is Manchester United so we are happy. And I am ambitious too. I have to be to succeed in football."

Fellaini: "I am ambitious, everybody wants to play Champions League, its the most important competition for a player and I am no different."

Fellaini: "“I am happy at Everton, I have three more years on my contract after this season, so we will see."

Couldn't tell whether you were agreeing/disagreing or just smashed out your skull.

The story of Moyes making Fellaini train with him is just another example that we as fans don't know half of what goes on at our (or any) football club. We only know what they drip feed us! This goes for everything including transfers, wages, potential buyers etc.

Bingo bango !!!

I loved Fellaini saying "But that wasn't the worst of it...."

Gotta admire Moyes going in there and hammering him when he could have had the day of and had Round or some other assistant doing it for him.

Shows what a top pro felli is, no sulking, took his punishment like a man, and not a word of complaint at playing out of position for a season. Also consistantly tops the stats for ground covered per game

was thinking the same.

I think anyone who'd been subject to what those Stoke yard dogs were dishing out that day would have reacted (or at least wanted to react) in that way. It wasn't the first time either, after the Utd game managers could only think of one way to play him and that was roughing him up.

Top bloke.

nice to hear something positive about Felli. I really think last season was a tough one for him, he had shown how good he was playing box to box, but Moyes insisted that he played up front in games when there should have been better options. Teams did work this out and referees gave him no protection. Lots of players would have sulked like mad, but apart from the Stoke and Wigan game his behaviour was as disciplined as anyone with some passion for the game could be, All of a sudden because of some admittedly poor judgement in press conferences too many seem desperate to sell him, but even two or three top level players may struggle to replace him. He has been honest about his ambition but I think he has more love and loyalty for the club than most players who know how to keep their mouths shut in front of the press. Lets keep him for as long as we can, any team people come up with using the Fellaini money is a daydream, the reality of Fellaini in front of our defence is one other teams are clearly scared of or the media wouldn't be trying to convince us he has gone whenever they can.
