I agree with going for a strong team tonight, for 2 reasons. 1) we'd very possibly get a rodgering if we played a second string tonight and 2) Symbolically, it's good to see us taking a competition seriously we earned via 38 games last season to be in.

What's the point in playing a second string? To rest players for the league in order to qualify for Europe then rest players in Europe for the Premier League.... and so on.
