Yeh, injury, that was what it was. Some great players that have not reached their true peaks because of injury. Ronaldo, van Basten, Kenny...

Got Sky Sports in August 1996, which coincided with Sky’s first season of La Liga coverage (anyone remember David Bobin presenting?). Watched Ronaldo roughly 20 times that season at Barca when he tore up the league, and without a doubt he’s the best striker I’ve seen. Seen the acrobatics of Van Basten at AC Milan (Channel 4), the nonchalant/arrogant finishing of Romario at Barcelona in the 93-94 season and with Brazil at the ‘94 World Cup, and every great forward since. In the last 30 years there isn’t a number 9 to touch Ronaldo.Injuries prevented him for being the best ever
Was in school when he was at Madrid and that but still this day remember that hatrick at old Trafford. Sublime player
Fat little bastardddd

The chunky version you mention that played for Madrid was an abomination to the Barca one. When evaluating great strikers the only Ronaldo that should be judged is the one in a PSV/Barcelona/Inter Milan jersey.
In his prime he was sleek and rapid. The one thing that stands out most are his tricks (stepovers, flip flap etc) which he could execute cleanly. Watching him attempting a stepover at Madrid when he got chunky was sad to see. He reminds me so much of Muhammad Ali who was two different fighters,,the slick, fast 1960s version who made fools out of opponents who couldn’t get near him, and the chunky, much slower 1970s version who often took a beating (still somehow managed to win some of those, ie. against Foreman).

Good player
I always preferred Romario and Bebeto personally, but that's probably because the 1994 Brazilian Team was the first one I knew and he was on the bench for them whilst the other two scored all the goals (I know they weren't a vintage Brazilian side but they still played awe inspiring stuff for a young kid)
They were okay, but they were no Muller.
Compared to the 82 team they weren't even playing the same sport lol
I really didn't like the 98 team either, which Ronaldo was the star of, so I think that effected my opinion of him too. I was rooting for France in the 98 Final
2002 World Cup was when I started to get into football so was one of the first strikers I remember. Genius player with a bell haircut.
