Fake crowd sound effects...

Was fine. If you've ever played a football video game then you're used to the slightly off crowd noises. I find if you just focus on what's happening on the pitch and don't pay too much attention to it then it doesn't sound too unnatural.

Not a fan of it. It was lame during the Dortmund Munich game a few weeks ago.

All the whistling and noise like it was a hostile environment while the guys are just knocking it around the back and communicating like nothing.

The games are what they are. Just let them be that way. The crowd getting piped in being loud at times is just totally inconsequential.

I'm not really trying to. I'm really just trying to express my surprise at how little people seem to care about the match on the pitch compared to everything else about it. I genuinely thought the prevailing sentiment would be how great it is to see games again and instead every time someone plays the threads just moan on and on about how it isn't real or whatever else.

I'm not sure it's just the social element that people are missing with the restart, although I am sure it is a big part of it (it is for me, I will admit).

This version of football that we have been given, with the rule changes (5 subs and drinks breaks etc), fakery of fifa crowd noise etc, is about as far removed from elite football as can be, hence why many of us CBA.

Nobody can tell me that Fans at the ground supporting both home and away sides, don't have a massive impact on what goes on during the match, and affect players performances, and also match officials performances. Thats the match I really care about seeing back on the pitch, not these glorified training games we are getting. There's a reason why behind closed doors games have always been a punishment to the naughty teams and supporters.

Hell, we might even see some better performances from some of the shithouses we currently have wearing the royal blue jersey on Sunday, with some of our more vociferous, justifiably critical home support being absent, but I digress.

This souless, anemic, lifeless version of football that is being served up has nothing of the drama or intensity I associate with the premier league, and having the fans at the grounds is key to that - it has only been brought back for financial reasons when there are many more important things that this government need to be sorting out.

I know it is impossible for us to be in the ground currently due to covid, but that's just how I feel about it all.

Piping this fake crowd noise in does nothing for the match ( or product if your a "customer"), as it has no effect on the players performances, as they don't hear it!

I don't like the fake crowd noise either. I think changing the number of subs was questionable. The drink breaks make no sense.

But it is still a football match, and I've just been a little surprised how many people want to say it isn't the same at all and not worth watching now.

Technically it is still a football match, I agree, but these are nothing more than glorified training sessions, and for me it isn't the same at all, as what I expect to see, and it hasn't been worth watching imo.

I gave villa sheff u a watch, as both teams have stuff to play for - it was absolutely awful and dull imo, aside from the Hawkeye balls up - I know it would have been a completely different match had fans been in there - that's why I think it's a joke, and not worth watching. Couldn't be bothered with the city-arse game.

It's like a proper Hugo Boss shirt (normal PREM footy) Vs a Primark copy "Hugo" shirt (project restart footy), of the same pattern - from afar they both look the same and some people can't tell the difference, but get them close together, and you can see the Primark version is fraying and stitched all wrong, and gets [Poor language removed] after one 30 degree wash and spin cycle.

I disagree on the Villa Sheffield United game. That is Sheffield United always. Dull and just hoping to win on a set play or two, as they should have done.

I'm just talking purely people who can appreciate a football match for what it is. When you add to proper football fans that they go or are involved, that isn't who I mean. I mean the guys who turn a match on and watch it for 90 minutes and enjoy it on some level even if it has nothing else about it.

I agree that the social aspect matters a lot, I just thought enough people were drawn to the sport first and the social stuff second. The way people are treating this restart says to me it is the opposite. That the social stuff is what matters most. And that is fine, I'm just surprised that it is so lopsided.

Also I hope the stats gibe at the end made you feel good.
Tbf I used to go every week for years and the worst thing about the whole day/weekend was the actual football.

I hate the crowd noise its ruining the experience and in the championship games they don't even have an option as it's on both channels. Who actually authorises this trash

I don't mind the fake fan sounds, it's the all too nauseating commentator sounds that annoy me. If they want to give a true match experience they need to bin the commentators altogether, after all if you were at the match you wouldn't like some berk yammering in your ear would you?

Pretty much this.
As an overseas sky watcher, sky sound is poor at the best of times with a crowd.
Not an issue to me

Lack of a proper midfield though, that is a problem.
