A pretty cool insight into the Merc Strategy call:

Shame this content is behind the F1TV paywall, probably be copyrighted in a few hours. Really good stuff though.

As someone in the comment section says, “This is what Drive to Survive should be like”

This is amusing.

"If you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'" is the mantra of all race teams.

Of course they are looking for ways around the regs to give them an advantage. All the teams do it, it is integral to F1. If they amend the rules to fix a loophole, then thats how it plays out. As it is, afaik, the wing passed the FIA checks to be declared legal up to this point.

Should be kudos to Red Bull for finding an advantage.

Yes, no material is completely rigid, and all wings have a small degree of flex, but there is a black and white difference between designing something that adheres to the technical regulations and designing something that infringes the regulation but passes testing.

Where does it stop? Maybe in the not too distant future we'll have cars that incorporate nano technology so that the car that is submitted for testing is nothing like the car that races on the track.

Personally I feel that Mercedes are one of the cleanest teams in terms of where they will go with technical infringement grey areas, because having the "Mercedes" name on the team what the F1 team is willing to do also shapes public perception about their road cars.

Red Bull don't have to worry about that.

Is it a surprise that Alpine are also exploiting this, now that the Renault name is no longer above the door? Maybe its coincidence or maybe, as Perez said "there are no coincidences in F1."

Ferrari were blatently cheating with their engine fuel flow sensors in 2018, they got found out and then rightly punished, and the knock on effect is still being felt.

I wouldn't shed a tear if the same Red Bull were also set back when their illegal wings are banned. It would be shame for neutrals who would be robbed on some great racing at the front this year, but I want to know that what I'm watching is legit.

I'm still annoyed that the Ferrari investigation report was kept private.

They should have been humiliated, particularly as they suffered such a dramatic loss of pace but Binnotti was still claiming they'd not broken any rules. Idiot.

They really are the Darlings of the FIA. A bit like Real/Barca relationship with UEFA.

Ooooo-eeerrrrr:

Just don't understand why they do qualifying that way.

Wouldn't it make more sense to give each car two laps a session with a clear track?
