When’s the worst race of the year?? The Monaco borefest?
I've come to despise Monaco more and more over the years. While I think it used to be an amazing sight to watch F1 cars racing around the streets of the Principality, as a race it's a joke - little more than a procession, and I hate all the pomp and celebrity that it attracts. I did not miss it at all last year.

Its a ridiculous event for modern F1 considering the size of the cars are now that much bigger.
Should be turned into a something along the lines of Goodwood.

It's still an awesome test of man and machine, but as a spectacle it isn't great...unless it rains.

I said it before but the amount of land they have reclaimed from the sea over the years all it would take is another 3 or 4 meters worth along the sea wall after the tunnel and let them have a good length of level straight and add another chicane half way down that or tighten Tabac so it becomes the overtaking point and it would become a much better race track. Surely has to be worth the expense.

Its not like Monaco even offers any chance of playing the strategy card, as the leader will just back up the pack to take away the possibility of an undercut, then run long and make one stop.

They do hold the Monaco Historical Grand Prix every year at the end of April. I have been a couple of times over the years. (A friend of mine gets a drive there for one of the teams - that's him below in the Gold Arrows)

I used to go to Monaco every year with work but after the first visit during GP week, it's definitely a bit of a drag to go again.

Was that were Alesi had a bump in Lauda's Ferrari?

Yeah, not the same race.... They run different ones for different eras.

As an event it's much more enjoyable for a car fanatic. Less rammed with bells than the main F1 week and it is pretty much all about celebrating a simpler era of racing. (During F1 week the race is definitely a distant 2nd to the excess on display.)

Mercedes always go well at Barcelona, and it looks like they've hit the ground running this weekend.
Ominous.
