Oh good God, why would even ask such a question, hes gonna name every single player under the age of 15 in world football.
Plus no point in buying younger players if they jib us off for a top 4 club at the first opportunityIf we are taling comfort, I find your total obsession with yoots very, very uncomfortable, very.
I get what you want, to buy young players in the hope that they make it big, its a noble idea and 1 that EVERY single club in world football is trying to do, buy low, sell high, but yet you seem to think your the only person in the world that sees its benefit.
You also seem to think we have some sort of pulling power that makes these players want to join us over far bigger and better clubs, your sense of reality is misguided.
But lets focus on what I want hey.
But I dont understand how you can say I dont want to be succesful cos I think its a bad idea signing a load of ON THE MAIN, overhyped youngsters.
Our current transfer policy of buying players from ALL age groups will do us just fine, I mean its working for City, how is Spurs policy of focusing on youth getting on?
Plus no point in buying younger players if they jib us off for a top 4 club at the first opportunity
Can you imagine if we still had Stones , Rom , Barkley playing and Rooney had never left
City are signing the best young players because ofSpurs have done very well have they not?
City are signing the best young players around...
If any of those mentioned were just one or two of a dozen then I think they would want to stay as spurs players have done in recent seasons.
City are signing the best young players because of
Training facilities
Manager
Wages
Winning trophies.
Spurs can offer the first 2 but not the second 2 hence the drain of Spurs better players has started and the trickle will become a flood shortly
Players want to win things
Spurs (and us) could offer the first 3 once the stadium is built as well as owner investment.
It’s well known that Spurs don’t pay big wages Hence the Walker and Ali row.Spurs (and us) could offer the first 3 once the stadium is built as well as owner investment.
We have 1 in 4 of those things.
Training
Being honest we dont have a big name manager
We dont offer bigger wages than our peers
And we certainly dont win trophies
But hey, a new stadium will mask all that.
It’s well known that Spurs don’t pay big wages Hence the Walker and Ali row.
Players want success and Spurs and is can only offer limited success unless our owners spend big and way out of their comfort zone
Look what the RS have spent and won SFA
Unfortunately money buys success and buying young players all the time won’t give you that.
In my opinion you need a mix of players from 32 down to 21 with the majority in the 25-28 age group
Even the famed Class of 92 that Fergie had of Beckham Giggs Butt Gary and Phil Neville and Scholes had top quality older players around them and Butt and Phil Neville were mainly subs
We absolutely need to be doing this too and this is what Everton have done well. Allardyce is lucky because if he’d gone into any other club outside the top 6 with 6 first team players missing he’d be in trouble. Here he’s had Holgate Kenny Davies and Calvert Lewin to come straight into the first team and Lookman an Vlasic to support.
It doesn’t get away from the fact though that we are having to turn to the kids because what should be our big gun players at their peak are either injured (Bolasie Coleman Barkley Funes Mori) or are not in form (Keane Klaasen Schneiderlin). In my opinion only when we have that balanced squad will we be able to compete like we have before across multiple comps. Players at their peak have the correct blend of power pace hunger and experience.
Where your strategy falls down is that whilst we wait for these kids to hit their peak the big clubs just wait for us to finish their development and take them. Holgate will be on the radar of every top club if he keeps up this form: young English centreback good on the ball fast and versatile across the back line? Gold dust.
Then we have to start all over again.
As a team we should have the captain of ROI as our RB, England international Keane partnering Argentinian international Mori, LB is a problem area.
Senegalese international Gueye with French international Schneiderlin and Dutch international Klaassen. Iceland international Siggurdson, Rooney and Belgian international Mirallas upfront.
On paper that is what our first team of players should be. Highly experienced internationals in their primes.
Instead it’s nowhere near that due to injuries and poor form.
In my eyes that’s the challenge facing Allardyce, either rehabilitate the above players or move them out and get better ones in. Teams of old lags and young players (no matter how good they might be) don’t often win many trophies without some big gun players to build around.
I think we'll be paying big money for salaries once the stadium is built and also will have a new manager by then, also a big name.
Otherwise allardyce will have been successful
Spurs 'could' pay big wages with the stadium though...
The RS have made the fatal error of signing players not at the top level for years...now they've sorted the attacking quartet but have nothing else behind them at the top level. Imagine if they had a 23 year old Gerrard and Carragher there...whole new ball game.
As you said, United had Beckham, Giggs, Neville and Scholes at the very top level.
Hypothetically, lets say Pickford reaches a very high standard (a reasonable assumption).
Kenny and Holgate could potentially become top quality.
Davies and Baningime have shown they are able to perform in the league
Lookman, Dowell, Vlasic and Onyekuru have potential
DCL has performed in the league but needs to add goals.
Of those 10 players it's 'possible' 5 of them could be classed as very good / top class premier league players.
Lets say that the rest of them (and others coming through the ranks) are good enough to be squad players.
Again, hypothetically we would need to add 6 players to complete the team while relying on developing kids for the rest of the squad.
Looking at our squad, its 'possible' Keane, Gana and Sigurdsson could all attain a very high calibre consistent performance for the next 3 seasons and beyond...
Just to throw in some names over the next 3 seasons...
Pickford
Kenny -- Holgate -- Keane -- ???
Gana
Davies -- ???
Dowell -- ??? -- Sigurdsson
Just based on this, the obvious is again apparent.
1 -- Add in a superstar left back
2 -- Add in a superstar centre midfielder
3 -- Add in a superstar centre forward
Most, if not all posters would recognise that those positions are the ones needing improvement. With also centre back a necessity unless Keane can hit top level. You can argue Rooney is in centre midfield so this can be 4th in the priority list.
Left Back +Centre Forward + Centre Back + Centre Midfield
The real question is, are we able to sign the players at the very top in those positions or do we need to aim for younger players there and develop them to reach the top?
