Evertonians with RS children

On the flip side my dad is a red. My grandad however was a huge blue and got me and my brother onto his side from an early age. My dad took the attitude that it was our choice and I really appreciate that. If we were happy then he was happy and he certainly doesn’t think he failed anything as a result.
He only failed himself with his own mistaken choices.

On getting asked if he would like a name on his football kit for Christmas a couple of years back, little Yarrgh junior asked for Ronaldo. I said that Ronaldo didn't play for Everton so pick again. He then asked why he supported Everton. Because I do. Why do you? Because your granddad did. Why did he? Because granddad's dad supported them too. "I hate my ancestors" was his exact words - I suspect not because he was a wise a$$ but because he probably thinks that all football teams go back to ancient history and knew that the answer would repeat itself forever. But it did make me laugh, and truly I knew he was an Evertonian, and that he understood the deeply unsatisfying times ahead of him - though I hope for some bright spots dispersed amongst those times.

rs kid? Never!

My brother as always said he was a RS supporter but we took him to Goodison (where he wore a Everton shirt) to watch a game it was only a game which we won against Leyton Orient 5-0 after it he asked if he could become a blue after it ;) it didn’t last long granted but he still gets terrorised about it especially when derby’s Are on

Kind of a reverse hypothetical story here. All my family are blues (one auntie married into the family as red) but other than that all blues.

However I did wonder if my feelings to Liverpool would have been different had my dad been a red. I think deep down I'd have probably wanted them to do well so he was happy. I probably couldn't say that about any other member of my family, but wouldn't have wanted my dad to be unhappy and would have been happy for him. It must be quite hard to have mixed families.

I was a season ticket holder for 20 years, my dad was going to goodison since the 1940s, his dad went to goodison before him, I'm guessing from the 1920s. I never influenced my kids about football. My youngest hates sport, but my eldest supports..............................

Everton of course, he asked me to take him a few years ago on Boxing Day when we were back in Liverpool. We lost to Sunderland ffs, but he still wanted to go again. We've been to 4 or 5 games and he is a blue. :D

I gave my three a choice, support Everton and get pocket money, Christmas / birthday presents and the occasional drunken bout of paternal affection, or support anybody else and basically get a job very, very young because the rent was going to prove prohibitive. Lazy little scooters all opted for Everton and I have been skint ever since!
