Everton Youth Teams Thread

..I see the U17 World Cup is about to start and Gibson is involved. I'm not sure if he'll progress as a LB or CB, he looks very solid for such a young age. The problem with age limit football is that the other youngsters often catch up physically by the time they are ready for open age competition. I look forward to watching Gibson in this World Cup.

is it on eurosport?

...but building a team spirit for a group of individuals who are ultimately competing with each other for their futures shouldn't be underestimated. Last season the likes of Man City had better individuals but no team had the collective spirit of Everton.

It's essentially job #1 for any coach of any team in any sport.

Yeh was just speaking on last nights lineup. Can't see Charlsey ever playing for Everton first team myself, probably not Henen either.
Agree with you on the Charsley one which is strange because he's always popping up with important goals and seems to be doing well but I wouldn't be too surprised if Henen has some first team involvement, especially because of the comments made recently about him being persuaded to stay despite wanting first team football elsewhere - whether he is good enough is yet to be seen, definitely think he's improving though mate ;)

Sessegnon has been picked so will be interesting if he's LM with Gibson behind...or alongside Gibson in defence.

One player we really should sign...

Sadly Alex Denny is not involved this time, while he wasn't a regular starter he was involved a lot in the Euros U17s finals, which I think was a qualifying tournament for the WC so he played his part.
Gibson will stand out at this WC for England, but you may need to watch him carefully as they have an outstanding array of individual talents so he may not be an obvious headline grabber. At the Euros he gave them a solidity at the back as well as looking good going forward at FB. Certainly for me he was up there with Kenny and Connolly when they played at the same age level and a wee bit bigger physically. Back to reality though ,only 17 , a long way to go , but tournaments like this help development.

..is Gibson a definite LB, I've seen him discussed as a CB? I didn't see him as particularly tall, but as you say he looks a strong lad.
