Could well have been mate

From the Telegraph article:

"There have been murmurings at Academy level that Vint's lack of football experience was creating a challenging and at times difficult environment in the junior levels.

It is known several specialist football coaches at Goodison did not particularly agree with some of the changes he was introducing".

..yep, you don't know what goes on but I can understand a non-football man working with football men could be problematic.

Even if he was right or had some good ideas, if football men were questioning it, it make his position untenable unless he had strong backing from leadership, which it appears he didn't.

...yes, I suppose some techniques are generic but when it comes to footballing decisions then an understanding of the game and the skill set are important. It's probably in that are that conflict arises and as you say the position becomes untenable. There might also be a 'home sick' factor with the bloke wanting to be near his family.

Or it may be like the movie "Moneyball" where traditional "football" people are reticent to change. Who knows.

Certainly has. Just 3 games to go. Is it 4 pts needed? Two toughies at Chelsea and Spurs. Then the one it'll probably all rest on -- the RS at GP. Can't wait. A 5-figure crowd surely.

city have tough games too so hopefully the RS will have to give us a guard of honour!:)

vint was a fairly strange appointment in the 1st place, not sure who was behind it.

u23s league can be won v spurs if city lose,or really be won the same night on GD v spurs,as we have better one,if city somehow dont beat derby 3 days before we play spurs

spurs game still at southport up to now, might go by that man city/derby game if they change it to goodison,as is the liverpool one so far

Galloway is basically a left sided Holgate. His main position is centre back and would be an excellent left sided centre back but can fill in at left back in a 4 like Holgate can at right back. I wouldn't be comfortable with either of them as wing backs. I hope next season we get 2 new centre backs and these 2 are on the bench or at least one plays when we go 3 at the back. This year was a wasted year for Galloway but hopefully that should make him even more determined. I would like to see Kenny get his chance as it could save us a fortune as if he steps up we only need someone on loan or a short term contract until Coleman is fit. At left back I would like to see Garbutt given a chance with Connolly also brought into the reckoning because of his versatility!
