Question for people here. I'm going to this event in a couple weeks to see the Dallas academy play fulham, but also to see this Everton Football College team in the opening game.

What exactly is this team? Is it part of the Everton academy that mostly focuses on education or something? I'm going to go support them regardless but just don't know a ton about the academy set up.

It's a 6th form college side. It's completely disconnected from the club in footballing terms

I attended tonight's game and thought we were very unfortunate to be on the losing side. We had some excellent chances and struck the woodwork on a handful of occasions, and I did not think Dortmund deserved the penalty when there was a similar incident at the opposite end of the pitch a few minutes beforehand for which we got nothing. The referee was awful as is the norm in under-21s football.

Quite the rut our 21s are in. The one win in 7 coming from an absolute gift by the lower Breck keeper. Focus has to be on qualifying for this comp next season now as well
You'll not get consistency if from one game to another the profile of the team changes in terms of age, experience and level from one of scale to the other (as it can do for the oposition). Its not as if they're fixed teams.

Hit the woodwork 5 times?

That puts a different flavour on the result.

I agree we won't get consistency. I was simply commenting on the run of form and how our season was fizzling out. I'm not expecting us to win every game but to fail to qualify for next season's international cup would be a major disappointment considering where we were placed a couple months ago.

I’m presuming we need to finish in the top 16 ? It appears we’ve got 3 games left , are in 17th position so doable with a late run. You’re right the International Cup is a big bonus to our u21s , giving them experience of playing different styles from different countries.

Is it the top 16 that go into the playoff style cup comp at the end of the season? I have a vague memory of it being the top 12 for some reason

Any extra games would be good at this point

A lot of this United team are extremely highly rated. It’s the one thing the club has managed to do well in recent years, snapping up some extremely highly rated young talents. Obviously JJ Gabriel already getting lots of attention because of the talent he has at such a young age (still only 14yo), but Thwaites and Ibragimov in midfield and Kukonki in defence have all trained with senior team and would be expected to make the step up soon.

That Gabriel lad getting noticed on the Beeb now.

It's top 16 now yeah, we should still qualify but it's a lot closer than it ought to be
