Everton Youth Teams Thread

Just to clarify someone is going to go a long to a game and records under 18s, post it on the Internet then charge.

I know the intent in genuine, but am I the only one who sees the problem here.

This would be a major mistake as well. We often have a lot of under 16's playing for the under 18's and sometimes even for the under 21's. It would be a major safeguarding issue to film them without consent and would not be looked upon very favourably by the old bill. While I am sure the intent would be fine it would look awful.

This is a factor people have to weigh up when we consider filming as well. Everton tend to play younger players than others like Liverpool. For them to film it would require parental agreement and consent. I'm sure there would be more than a handful of parents who would be uneasy about children who are under 16 being filmed and broadcast all over the world.

I know it sounds very over protective and probably shows my educational background but in the modern world you have to be aware of these things far more now. I know it's a pain for us fans, but giving lads who are under 18 (and some under 16) freedom from exposure to the wider world has lots of positives. We talk about them (and I am as guilty as this as anyone) as if they are adults but they are children who Everton are in locis parentis of all the time they are in the clubs care. While lots of adults will want exposure to them for absolutely positive and footballing reasons the club have a duty of care to limit this.

I should also say, given elements of the fan base and their desire to criticise young players coming through providing a safe haven where they are shielded from that is going to be conducive to increased development.

So yes, I am not sure if anybody has suggested filming illegally but I would advise against anybody doing that, as it won't just be the intellectual property of Everton that you are in breach of.

Hmm .. we may differ on what we deem to be muscular. Physically Lees reminded me of a slightly smaller version of Holgate. Jones was noticeably bigger than him, then again Jones is quite a sturdy built lad. Regardless Lees played very well.

We have an impressive bunch of 'youngsters' coming through ... imminently.

Walsh is only 16 y/o ? Wow. He's really impressed me, seems to enjoy the game too.

Yet to see Dowell .. looking forward.

Well I think this is relative, Lees is a couple of years younger than Holgate and still has significant development to come.

Walsh is 17 and will be 18 too. Dowell has really come along well in the last 2 years and has grown a lot taller. I suspect he might be involved in the first team squad at some stage this season.

re: filming the games at Haig Ave. There were broadcast vans there for the mini derby. Vs. Preston there appeared to be 2 rigs, one full-on, mounted, heavy duty camera c/w cameraman. The other rig was a smaller rig hooked up to a lap top, separate sound boom and an operator for each. Someone was filming something.

For the record admission to Haig Ave is 5 quid which compared to match day prices is a steal. The chance to see our budding stars in action and Everton winning... I like to think that the young lads would appreciate it too.

Everton Under-18s maintained their 100 per cent start to the season as they came from behind to win at Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

Trailing to a first-half goal, the young Blues rallied after the break and got back in the contest when winger Michael Donohue struck his second of the season to pull his side level.

And, whatever coach Paul Tait and his staff had said to the players at half-time clearly had an effect as, following their victories over Manchester United, Sunderland and Stoke City, Everton made it four straight victories when midfielder Jack Bainbridge fired in to seal another three-point haul.

The young Blues will put their faultless record on the line again when they welcome Liverpool to Finch Farm for a mini-derby on Saturday 19 September.
