Final score is 2-1 to Everton,a last minute winner by Lavery added to a Garbutt pen to keep everton in 2nd place 2 points behind top placed liverpool,whos game in hand is on sunday

Evertons next u23s LEAGUE game is in 3 weeks away to top placed Liverpool in the derby,which is LIVE ON LFC TV

A decent and just about deserved 2-1 win.

I hear Garbutt had a great game.

Feeney and Foulds looked sound at the back , Adeniran solid in mid field with Bowler playing 90 min and looking like he has something about him. Jose Baxter hit two of the worst free kicks you’ll ever see , Garbutt standing alongside him must have been furious as when the penalty was given he rushed to gab the ball making sure nobody else had it.

Of the subs Lavery had the most impact and looked lively, moving neatly in the box to get fouled for the penalty and then smashing home a great shot for the second goal . It was a great move with some neat interplay between Garbutt and Donkor to move the ball out of the left corner to Adeniran who moved it quickly onto Bowler. Bowler cut inside his man , moved forward and passed it out to Hornby on the right , by now almost diagonally opposite from where the move started . Great cross from Hornby and a smashing finish by Lavery. Could have been a goal or too more to either side but a fair result for me.

Tell you what Garbutt looked like a young Baines the way he confidently took that pen. What a bonus it would be if he could rise from the dead to at least offer some cover at Senior level.

After Lookman, Calvert-Lewin, Dowell, Kenny und Connolly winning the U20 WC tournament, Gibson is a new U17 WC winner after the 5-2 win aggainst spain. In the whole tournament he played only 90 minutes in the last game off the group stage aggainst iraq.

That says something for the strength of that u17 side if a lad we paid £6m for is a sub
