Everton Youth Teams Thread

I think - personally - Sambou and Henen work well because Sambou is a big physical presence now which upsets defenders. Not sure how it would be with Henen and Gordon since he’s very slight and from what I’ve seen I can’t imagine him constantly pressuring the back line like Bass does.

yeh if hornby ever gets himself fit again i'd like to see him upfront with henen for the u23s

I will say one thing Everton are so slow to tell you whats happened in the u18s as well as eveything else most times, sometimes hours,a day or even 2 or not at all lol, even with there new twitter academy page, they still dont keep you informed lol

and less than 5mins later they post

Things like this are one of the reasons I enjoy our u18s/23 so much : ““We used the last 15-20 minutes today to try a different system. We had done bits of work on it but wanted the boys to implement it on the pitch… but they did not quite manage it as well as we would have liked. ” Unsy used a 4-4-2 system to great effect yesterday . It’s not only the fact that it adds interest to the games to see something different than our turgid 4-2-3-1 , but for me it’s essential in developing our youngsters to find out those who have the ability to adapt to differing systems even if it’s not their preferred style of play e.g. Antony Evans yesterday. Today I saw a 3-4-1-2 system being used in a semi-professional match , it was refreshing.

Any idea who is he eligible to play for internationally don't recall any mentioning him playing in the England youth set ups.

His style of play & positioning means if he carries on improving & chooses england he wouldn't have a great deal of competition.

Horrendous Livermore & to a lesser extent dier all not good enough for international football.

Born in Congo but can represent England as well.

Could maybe see him playing for Congo as it's not looking likely he'll get in any England squad since he hasn't so far. Maybe Bolasie will be in his ear haha.

Be a waste although it saves him from any exposure to that mess of a setup that is england

...I really like the lad. I think the key area for improvement is in his passing ability. He tends to win it and give it which is ok but it’s an area that needs working on if he wants that extra dimension in his game.

A lad I know manages abroad and I contacted him in the last week or so suggesting he consider Baningime for a loan deal, although i’m not sure how keen Everton are on sending youngsters abroad.

We haven't shown in the past we're willing to but I think that's a shame as it can reduce the skills they pick up. You learn more about the physical side of the game being loaned to the football league but that's granted you already have the skills. Foreign loans can help the other side which I think Beni needs. Physically - despite being quite slight - I think he has enough for the English game.

..absolutely, he’s already good at the ‘English’ stuff.
