The West Ham game in November finished him for me. But I’d had enough after the first few games in Sep. I think there’s a lot of reasons more people arent coming to Goodison but his tactics were a big part of dropping from over 6K in the first game to under 3k in recent games. The timing is weird, but Saturdays game felt like it was the players taking control and sorting out the problems rather than anyone from the bench. Would like to see us get points now asap, I think you’d need at least 17 to avoid finishing last this season. And I wonder if they can do anything with Gago now. Probably not.

I thought it was a few days later he got sacked after we lost away at Norwich 2-0?

How West Ham didnt win about 10-1 I'll never know. I'm sure Lee Chapman smashed a header off the bar in the last minute from about 4 yards out
Yes I was with my daughter in the family enclosure. Don't know how Chapman missed it. Didn't know the exact date he went but we were terrible. Thank god for Joe coming to our rescue.

Mid-season, there really isn't a good time to make this change -

- if you do it before or during the window, you vaporize any strong signings you are working on and create more concern/worry in your current players who might look elsewhere,
- if you do it right after the window closes, then you frustrate current squad and new signings,
- if you wait until season is over, you lessen your chance for stronger summer signings AND a stronger manager

So, making this change, realistically, best time is last 6 weeks of the season or so, assuming the team is safe.....

But then, that's me having no responsibility for the actual results and squad, so it's easy to pontificate....

reminds me of the joke - how may trumpet players does it take to change a light bulb? 5 - one to change the bulb and 4 to tell you how they would have done it.

For info four of the players we wanted and got knocked back for were Lia Walti, Beth Mead, Amalie Vangsgaard & Tessa Wullaert
Plus had talks with Hanna Wijk who wanted way to much and would have been highest paid by miles. Eva Gaetino we held face to face talks with before end of December. To name a few.
But did Moyes want them though?

Two overlapping reasons I can think of to delay announcements in this manner
- they knew of BS' imminent departure and wanted to have a string of announcements to make after to divert attention, and/or
- as they routinely seem to delay these type of announcements they just don't think they are important

Or, 3rd reason - they just forgot.

The u18s coach Scott Phelan who is in charge for the rest of the season has tried to get the Women's job before. But has never actually worked in women’s football. The players are angry Jen Foster is not in charge
Players can be angry because their bestie didn’t get the job but Phelan is far more qualified for the role

Hasn’t Phelan been a coach at the club for over 15 years? Jen only joined last year.

It’s a no brainer

Probably a bit or lot more of those 2. Sorensen was backed even up to last week

Piemonte was signed for over 2months before they announced it - more probably due to they had to officially wait for her contrct to end at previous club. But even then its still a while after it as they can say whenever they want. All last summers players were done each time way before they were announced

There was a club in a lower down league few years ago that announced a new signing 7 weeks after the tansfer deadline - why they waited 7 weeks i do not know
