I voted for Gana, but could just as easily have voted for Siggy or Cenk. All three must have needed oxygen when they went off! That performance had its flaws, but the heart and spirit that has been so absent in recent seasons was there is shedloads, and i am so happy about that! I am genuinely excited to see how we are performing come January once Silva has truly moulded them to the way hewants us to play!

My vote goes to Mason Holgate. His defensive display, particularly in the second half, was key to preserving our lead. I've seen a few people around the forum say we controlled things but that's not what I saw in the second half.

Yeah it's an interesting one.
He works hard but doesn't really get involved in the build up play.
If he doesn't score I'm not sure you get much out of him.
He can't rotate with the other front 2.
I would not be suprised to see Richy play more central and Bernard wide left at some stage in the season.
I thought theywere lucky to keep 11 men on the field with their persistent fouling.
It was obvious that they had singled Richarlison out for treatment.

I went for siggy too, beialliant edfort and positioning and on another day would have had an assist for Walcott and he had a few efforts from his set prices that on another day could have gone in , could have ended up with 2-3 assists on another day and Walcott could have had a hat trick . Bit nervous toward the end and as much I as dislike Morgan , we deffo looked like a different side when he went off. I actually enjoyed watching us play for the first time in what seems like years. Forward passing with a decent target man and pace down both flanks. Hoedullu by the time our “easy” fixtures are up we will have integrated some new players in and ironed out any problems at the back.

Agree. He's going to get players sent off playing in tight spaces.
But getting injured is a worry. Need to play more down the right and free him up.
I know people aren't huge fans of Garth Crooks but seeing Ev players in his Team of the Week does give me a little pride.
Jordan Pickford: What a save it was by Jordan Pickford to deny Southampton striker Danny Ings. The Everton goalkeeper struggled to hold an initial shot from Cedric Soares, though it didn't seem too hot to handle, but reacted brilliantly.
Afterwards, Saints boss Mark Hughes insisted the England keeper should have been sent off for his involvement in a 50-50 contest, which he won, though I can't remember Hughes ever pulling out of such a tackle in his long, illustrious career.
I don't know why he would expect Pickford to either. Poor show, Mark. Poor show.
Gylfi Sigurdsson: Gylfi Sigurdsson didn't set the world alight for Everton under Ronald Koeman and Sam Allardyce last season, after a big-money move to Goodison. However, this season - under Marco Silva - he might.
The Iceland international was outstanding against Southampton and, for me, the best player on the park. The position just behind the striker seems to bring the best out of Sigurdsson and, on this occasion, Everton as well.
I just hope Everton fans treat Silva better than they treated Allardyce.

Agree with you but think Cenk has some really great hold-up play ability. Made a couple great plays by just staying strong on the edge of the box.
Could definitely see Richy in as a second striker/centre forward which he did sometimes play as at Watford, particularly in the game he scored on us, I believe.

I can however see some games, away from home to teams that like to monopolise the ball, when we need to play a bit deeper and attack on the counter when Siva may pick Riki or Theo, or maybe even DCL if he shows improvement, up top ahead of him. But for most of our matches I see him as plan A
