Love these reports, and massive kudos for getting them up so quickly, @AndyC

Was out with the kids today so didn’t really have any context behind the numbers. Good to hear the centre midfield in general seemed to play well - It will be good for Gomes and Bernard to have to play their way in rather than getting starts by default.

What is the consensus on Cenk’s performance? I thought this style and these players would suit him down to the ground, but is he in danger of becoming our Plan B?
No I don't think so Cenk was involved in most of the good moves. Held the ball up well. Had a header on a corner kick. Does well letting people run off of him and laying the ball into their path. Thought he did ok myself. I'm sure others will disagree

..the 2nd half was nervous, the 2nd half was a bit like last season. Their goal wasn’t down to zonal marking, the goal was down to somebody failing to zonal mark.

I’m going for Holgate who has come in with little or no pre-season. He’s got an attitude, he plays ‘like the game matters’ and I like that.

The result was so important, we need to accumulate ahead of our other buys becoming available.

Impressed (apart from the Everton That moments) - against generally poor opponents who really should have been reduced to 10 men. There are no easy games but this was close to that. (perhaps we should have scored a few more, but a miss and a flag kept it close).

Pickford 6.5 (some good, some bad), Coleman 7, Baines 7, Holgate 8, Keane 7, Schneids 7, Gueye 7, Gylfi Pleasures 7, Walcott 7, Richarlison 7.5, Cenk 7

Davies 7

Thanks mate, it got a bit hurried towards the end as the stewards wanted us out of the ground a bit too quickly. Thankfully, my missus stalled 'em by going to the loo and buying me an extra couple of minutes ;)

As for Tosun, he's not a centre forward in the Joe Royle or Bob Latchford mould, but he works his socks off. It's going to be tough to drop him, especially if he gets a couple goals over the course of the next four or five games.

He’s one of those players I find myself really rooting for, so I hope one goes in off his behind against Bournemouth and gets him up and running!

On paper, it could work so well with him as the focal point and whichever 3 speedsters are buzzing around him. Fingers crossed it comes off in practice, too.

Feeling optimistic. When we're going forward, it's a breath of fresh air after last year. And the defence whilst not looking very sturdy is as well organised as it has been since the rot set in after Moyes left, and given there's reinforcement getting up to speed I have hope for the long term.

Keep it up Marco. Keep it up boys.
