Hughes blaming the ref and saying the game was too fragmented like it wasn't that way because his team were a bunch of grocks who constantly fouled. Hope he is given the chance to take them all the way down instead of getting fired before the end like at Stoke
This! Actually laughed out loud when I heard his interview. He chats utter, utter mince.

With this thread, MOTD and a healthy amount of beers to inform my decision I’ve gone for Gylfi. Some gorgeous touches based on MOTD alone and Theo should have buried what would have been a tremendous goal.

Mark Hughes is clearly on the ol’ monkey dust, the deluded idiot.

We’re gonna win the league, etc

None of the starting 11 played themselves out of the shirt.
Only Davies of the subs potentially played himself INTO the shirt...though I think he maybe more of a Gana replacement than a Schneiderlin replacement.
Niasse just does what he does, it even comes off sometimes, sadly though, not yesterday.

We've been doing shight defending since Martinez's first season.

The only difference is, we're calling it 'Zonal Marking' now.
It isnt, it's just plain old shight defending...ATTACK THE 'KIN BALL.

Everything went through Iceland, voted for him

Thought Sneiderlin played very well whilst on the pitch, shielded the back for very well, looked a little disjointed when he went off, and until Davies found his feet.

Walcott should have grabbed at least two, also looked sharp

Good start, need to keep up the momentum against the cherries next week

Richo. Class above the rest of the pitch. Not just goals and dribbles, can slip a mean pass as well.
and, y, ok better than last few seasons when a draw would've been the result, but when is the killer instinct going to come.
2nd half Saints came at us, as they should.
But it was same old...well,not as bad..but still the false hope, the hesitation and anxiety, the surprise when the play is good, the lack of guile and class when needed
This season has to be about Walcott or whoever putting those chances away...about the 3-1s.
About leadership in defence and not letting scum like Ings pitch a tent in the kitchen.

Went for Gana. He's probably still running. A year ago we'd have collapsed after conceeding so it's a pleasing result with some good individual performances but a couple of comments:

Walcott - how can anyone be that inconsistent in a single game? Brilliant to awful and everything in between today
Richy - stop rolling around and play the game!!! Despite all of his obvious talents the theatrics annoy the hell out of me.

Can’t underestimate how important those 3 points were to keep the feel good factor going. The last 20 minutes felt more nervy than they actually were. Fans began to break up all their momentum in front of the back 4 and Sig pressed high and with some better finishing we could have extended that lead. Superb to see us wrestle momentum back from the Saints as they had their tales up. Davies role in this can’t be underestimated either. Best he’s played in over a season.

Last season would have seen us capitulate let alone take back the advantage... played boys .. no one making it easy to be dropped.

...you have to think Mina, Gomes and Zouma in particular will instantly improve yesterday’s team. It really is important to continually pick up points whilst those players are still not available. Yesterday’s win was vital, it would be great if we can get an early away victory.

Nice to wake up on a Sunday morning knowing we have not only won but played well too. Could hopefully get used to this!

I went with Gana, he was pivotal to maintaining the lead yesterday. Gylfi was brilliant, Walcott too. Special credit to Marco for creating a team spirit. The lads left it all on the pitch.

Don't flame me guys but I am the solitary vote for Morgan.

I agree with the comments about Siggy and Richie but Morgan was controlling possession and was the base on which we built untill he went off injured.

He also provided the assist for the important first goal I think.

He has to go for theatrics otherwise some defender will chop his leg off. When you play that much 1 vs 1 game, you have to put pressure on the ref and the defender so that it will not be that easy to foul and stop you. When you get immediately up and run after the ball the referee will just resume the game, no matter how hard the tackle is. The only person who can take this much of beating and still continue is Messi, he is probably made of plastics anyway.
