to be honest its actually hard to tell how we were meant to be set up when the passing is so poor that we fail to build play for long enough to see a structure to it all!
I don't think the players really know what Martinez wants from them or how he wants them to play

im probably over forgiving of the manager, but i honestly think that for almost all the dreadful passes they made there was either another decent option or they picked the right pass and fluffed it. I'd prefer to think it was a mix of a few rusty players coming in, not getting momentum at the start and then not coping with the crap atmosphere and pressure piling on after every error.

i dont think not being sure of tactics would make you regularly pass 5 yards to the opposition when two of your team mates are free to receive the ball.

i think if you put hoolahan in their on our side tonight we would have looked a lot smoother. couldve been a decent squad option for us over the last couple of seasons when we have missed any kind of playmaker

Hehe, I thought we'd lost this one, I couldn't see it live so I went to a site to look at the highlights and they only had two videos uploaded, Bassong's goal and a big chance where Lukaku didn't reach the ball when sliding for it, I was convinced we're out but then I found another proper highlights video, the better it was to see the surprise, not to mention Chelsea and Arsenal also being out (the former is not much of a surprise anymore though, Mourinho seems to be the Chosen One to get that team relegated to the Championship).

Out of the squad guys:
Joel: Played well, should start.
Oviedo: Some nice touches going forward, slightly naive at times at the back.
Gibson: Looked class but tired.
Osman: Osman.
Mirallas: Clearly far from match fit and lacking confidence.

Also shouts of Kone being terrible are wide of the mark. Only player with a decent touch first half hour.

Kone was OK tonight, the side was terrible as a side, he should never of been taken off, i would of taken Rom off first, not that i had a problem with Rom but that 120 minutes is something we could of done without him having to play.

Shocking all game. Gibson, Funes Mori and Robles were the only players to leave the pitch with any pride in their performance.

Mirallas just doesn't look arsed again. Osman is finished, yes he scored but look how [Poor language removed] the finish was and he was gasping for air after about 60mins.

Lukaku needs to start putting what ever chances he gets in the back of the net. This team just aren't creating for him.

Quarter finals anyway, Utd away then??

One of the worst 'performances' at Goodison in a long, long time. I'd even have been embarrassed if we played like that away from home.

Reading this thread you'd think we lost 4-0 or something.

Why did everyone expect us to blow them away? Norwich are a PL side, we had lots of good chances as well just failed to convert them. I don't think we were as dire as most here make out. I was pretty confident of us winning even when we went down 1.

While agree that sort of thing does my head in, we weren't very good.

On the other hand, all that matters is that we're in the draw.
