“The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco.” Mark Twain

So, for the first time ever I’m attending an Everton fixture and the mighty blues have a fixture here in my own backyard, San Francisco, the City by the Bay, against Juventus FFS!!! I’m as chuffed as Barry Bonds after a Balco sports “therapy” session.

I don’t care what the tourist board says, San Francisco in the summer is a crazy ass city!

Where else can you eat your sprouted, organic tofu, gluten free, animal cruelty free breakfast paste while staring at a wall of freezing cold fog at breakfast, watch a family of German tourists wearing Bermuda shorts and nose cone sun block wandering around Haight/Ashbury looking for the parts of the 1960’s that don’t stink of urine and quasi Rastafarian homeless tie-dyed wearing teenagers trying to pass off clove cigarettes as actual drugs during lunch, or watch the sun sinking back into that same bank of fog coming back into the bay from the 3 foot by 6 foot “balcony” you share with 15 strangers who live with you in the subletted 1920’s Victorian painted in 20 different shades of purple prior to deciding which impossibly prissy celebrity chef restaurant you want to “enjoy” for the evening at dinner?

So Juventus huh? Yeah, heard of them. Pretty boss side. Won some things. Seria A…. blah, blah, blah. WHO CARES?! MY lads are in town and I’m as horny as a ten peckered owl in a hen house so get right into them you beautiful blue boys these are proper sh*te!!

Best thing I've read in ages, brilliant

By honestly beautiful, do you mean like a run down seaside amusement park.........

LOL, no. The stadium looks lovely from the outside, the sight lines are great, the pitch is great, the food is decent, and the view from the upper deck is spectacular.

It's a great park.

just a question but why in the baseball one are the floodlights and big fing light up bill boards right in the batters eye line? ie behind the pitcher

no wonder there all ****e and cant hit the ball ffs!

They are much higher up than you think and to the left and right of the batter's box. Don't impact the eye line.

Playing football of any kind in a baseball stadium is stupid.

Says you.

I could care less since I get to watch the boys play. San Francisco has a ton of soccer fans, but no MLS stadium (San Jose does not count), Candlestick is the pits (and being replaced), and Stanford is too far. So here we are. Cal would likely have not been able to handle the load in their stadium, and school is about to start.

Fabulous anecdotes and enthusiasm!

Not arsed about the result. I want to see liquid football and appearances from our new signings and youth.

think the formation we see tonight is the one for the season... 4-1-2-2-1

Baines and Coleman pushing up the wings with Gibson going back between the defenders making it seem we are playing three at the back. Haven't a clue he will go with up front though.... say Kone for now

-------------Kone---------------
Peinaar-------------------Miralles
-------Fellaini----Osman---------
-------------Gibson--------------
Baines---Distin--Jagielka---Coleman
------------Howard--------------
