...I posted when we signed this boy that he could turn out to be a bit good. I remember Mark Lawrenson saying that he was talking to Moyes who had identified 3 top drawer full backs in the Championship. The fact that he signed this guy suggests he is the best of the lot. I saw him chip a penalty in one of last seasons youth games so he doesn't lack confidence. Presume folk are thinking he could be a centre back but regardless he might be the best leaving present anybody could provide.

Just finished watching that game. Thought we were really tidy and dictated the play in that first half, but first 15 minutes of the second lost our way and played a few hopeful long range passes that allowed Juventus to take a grip. The goal didn't really change that pattern - although we looked dangerous on the break, we sat far too deep against a team of Juventus' class.

We pass the ball well and can clearly impose ourselves on games this way (and Victor offers us something different when we want to change up and go a bit more direct), but I'd love to see us with a cm who can take possession and drive at the opposition. If we can get someone with that in their locker before the window shuts (and keep Baines and Felli) we can be a real handful for anyone we meet.

Missed this due to a lack of arsedness and work commitents, but I shall be tuning in on saturday night. Thanks to all the lids who have linked the game in this thread for lids who haven't watched it yet. Much appreciated. Just going to sit down and take it in now.

Great result and very encouraging for the future. Glad to hear Stones did well, Vic was a nuisance and it's boss to see Mirallas continuing to be awesome. Nothing to get too excited about as it's just a friendly, but still we just beat Juve ffs! Well in again Everton.
