Better side than us??? Your havin' a laugh. No, I'm basing it on the three times Liverpool destroyed City, the eventual champions, last season, how their magnificent attacking style of play steamrolls the opposition - all the while they, very quickly, massively upgraded their defense, and other weak areas, to complete a team that I think will win it all this season. They are that good. And I wish we were too.

But they're magnificent attacking style of play doesn't always steamroll the opposition. They do occasionally drop points and were frustrated last season on more than one or two occasions where they failed to break down negative defensive sides.

And they've bought well because they haven't done it quickly - they waited a window to get Van Dijk and they waited a season to get Keita and it's took a long time for them to sort out a keeper who may or may not be the answer.

Pickford was decent some good distribution
Zonal marking doesn’t work for us
I was always told space don’t score goals players do

Zonal marking takes time to implement successfully.
It's a different mindset/coaching approach so players will have to become accustomed to what's being asked of them and learn the variations within the zonal system - e.g. using a couple of players to block the runs of key oppo players to stop them getting a run on our zonal markers.

That said you need players who are comfortable attacking the ball.

Zouma for me, he was the best player on the pitch Saturday

I thought Digne played well and Schneiderlin too actually

Other than that, yikes. It was awful to watch. I'm really starting to worry about Coleman.

We need Richarlison back and really need Gomez to provide some offensive ideas from the midfield that stray from "kick the ball to the opposing players"

I'm going to just throw this out there.

Does anyone else think that players like Coleman, Theo, and a few of the young lads are playing poorly on purpose due to team issues? Could those players be angry that the "New Guard" are pushing out the "Old Guard" and rather quickly at that! Jags and Baines hold a lot of power in the squad, so with those two being almost benched at this point, I can see players like Coleman and others trying to make a point to Silva and his staff.

Thought Zouma, Digne & Schneiderlin had good games for what it's worth. Issue with Schneiderlin is that he just isn't creative or attacking enough in general when we need to penetrate very defensive teams, but he did his usual job well enough.

This is completely bonkers and you'd certainly hope it isn't true. About as unprofessional as a professional footballer can get and I certainly wouldn't expect it of Coleman and Walcott either way..

It's always sad for Everton when we don't win, but it is tremendous for GrandOldTeam.com

Look at this magic.

@davek can you please add Coleman to the Baines and Jagielka conspiracy to bring down the club.
