Match Thread Everton V Sunderland Sunday 17th May 15:00

Went in 'beyond the tunnel' for my Birthday in January, it was for the Brentford game and they battered us.
Great to see the players in the tunnel, food was nice (3 course meal) and the service was excellent.
My brother bought it for me as a birthday present, cost £500 each and I believe it's more expensive for the big games.
Worth it for specal occasions I think like Birthdays, anniversary, graduation.
Brentford is a massive game, one of our mid table rivals. 😉

Long shot, but does anyone have any suggestions for anywhere around the ground for catching the end of the GAA on Sunday. The Winslow was always a guarantee and I know they have a new spot by the wind factory.
Probably a good excuse for a pre-match pub crawl.

Sunderland have been one of the season surprises for me. Physical, not awful to watch, sound manager.

Almost annoying then, that we're paired up with what should've been on the beach fodder, instead with outside pretentions of Europe of they're own...

We have a good chance of Europe with two wins against lower teams coming up. I wanna see us at it, and creating chances.

A win on any terms for me.

loss is unthinkable.
their manager is in the nominations for premier league manager of year
not moyes

none of our squad in running for player or young player of season too

Given recent form including Sunderland being smashed 5-0 at home by a team in 16th position, nothing other than a big home win will suffice. 3-0 to Everton.

interesting take from the Guardian

Moyes’ Blues must tighten up

Everton’s strikers have been largely responsible for limiting the team’s progress this season but it is their defence that has cost them in the final push for European qualification. That ambition appeared unrealistic at the start of the campaign, and there is still a slim chance it could be realised with several favourable results, but, for a manager who prides himself on solid defensive foundations, the past few weeks will have infuriated David Moyes. His team would be sitting level with sixth-placed Bournemouth but for squandering six points in their past four games, each one characterised by poor defending whether at set pieces, against Liverpool and West Ham, or from open play, versus Manchester City and Crystal Palace. The downturn can be pinpointed to the 87th minute of the Merseyside derby when Jarrad Branthwaite, the team’s best defender, was carried off with a season-ending injury. Everton coped well with his absence in the first half of the season but have failed to rediscover that resilience since his latest hamstring setback. Andy Hunter

I agree. Actually felt we were outdefended by Newcastle and Spurs at home. We have a soft centre mid and obviously Keane isnt quite up to it. Pickford great as he is has struggled at set pieces. We do need more goalscorers from wing and set pieces. No one is taking chances from good set pieces. Full backs dodgy too.

It sounds like Moyes wrote this as it doesn’t bear up to research.

The strikers have 46 goals against an XG of 45.2. They can’t score if they don’t get chances.

Everybody with a slight knowledge of Everton, apart from Moyes, knows if we play Tarkowski & Keane we ship goals for fun.
