Today felt a bit like a watershed moment. After they went 1-0 and we went down to 10, I felt that if we came back to win it then we'd not only come top 4, but Sunderland would definitely be down. As it stands, I reckon Sunderland will stay up and we'll finish outside top 4.

We need a top January transfer window.

Said before the game on here it would be harder than people thought

Not conceding many since Poyet came in

We're looking much better thank you fella, just struggling to score goals but we're right in with a chance of staying up.

Good to see you challenging for the top 4 btw.

People saying its more Howards fault are wrong IMO. Both to blame 50 50
Foreign teams can pass it out like that, seen Vallecano and Bayern do that all the time and get away with it probably better teams at passing the ball but so should we.

Atmosphere was shocking when it was 0-0 then when they scored people started singing (y)

Yeah lid, Vallecano are definitely a better passing team than us who have always got away with it.

Which is why they're second to bottom of their league with 13 points from 17 games.

It is amazing how quickly sentiment shifts though. I had the 3 game Xmas window down as a 7 pointer D,W,W (Swansea, sunderland. Soton)...now I reckon its a 4 pointer W,L,D (and I'm a bit jittery on the draw because of our suspensions and general tiredness).

Have to admit to a bit of hubris before this game...but EFC has a way of re-grounding its fans

we can mate its just that Osman is seriously ****e! he's getting to the point where Im starting to hate the lad same as Neville last season which is a shame as he's a good lad but Martinez needs to start playing his best XI regardless of the opposition or we will continue to **** up and drop points.

There is seriously no need to panic

This was a freak result (No offence to the Black Cats fan on here, but on any other day 2 or 3 of our chances would have gone in)

So long as the team respond and pull their socks up, I see no need to worry

You can't win them all and sometimes you'll be unlucky

There's no need for mass panic and no need to start getting at each other

Sort it out blues FFS!

Still reckon we have enough but we'll have to be quick out of the blocks and firing on all cylinders. If Osman starts then it could be game over from the beginning. Feel free to vault me on this if he plays a blinder like. I just think Martinez realised today how much better we were without him, even down to 10. Should be used as a last 15 sub only imo, and i've been a big Osman fan over the years. Just hasn't got the legs to be in our midfield now. Slows the whole play down.

I think we'll hopefully see a move for a Centre mid pretty early on - probably on loan or a cheap deal. We need it though. *Prays for Casemiro*

Enjoy the win mate, just like Fulham and Palace did today. You're where you are for a reason, and that is you just don't score enough goals. Yes, Gus has instilled some better defending but if you dre with rest of your games 0-0 you'd be lucky to escape relegation. I like Sunderland, but you're hard to watch because you have no flair and create probably the least chances per game of any team in the top flight.
Had it not been for the mistake between Howard and Osman, I highly doubt you'd have got three points today and that would've put you even further behind the others. It was a massive win in that respect.
Good luck with the rest of the season....it's going to be tough. We'll be up in numbers in April to take our revenge.

They are very good mate at passing if you watch them.

edit- im not saying they are a better team clearly not but I am saying if they can pass it out like that then surely we should.
