what did you lads think of the formation?(saves starting a new thread about it)

i thought it was very interesting if it was designed to encourage a team to come at us instead of play for a draw. Not sure it was best against stoke, a team who i think would have come to try and win regardless, would be more suitable for a team like norwich imo, however, wouldn't be too great to see one of our better midfielders replaced by heitinga to suit it. it definitely wouldn't be an option against one of the top top sides, but i doubt moyes would do that.

was good to see him try something different though, just not quite sure it worked. Then again we won and it's almost impossible for a team to click from the first minute under something experimental
Thought it was utter dog**** and I'm terrified we are going to do it again against Spurs.

didn't get to see it was away, good win who played well! was Coleman good, how was Barkley
great to see the lad get a run another win and clean sheet, bring on the spuds...........(y)

We're way off the football we played first half of the season. Granted, Pienaar and Fellaini being absent contributed to that today. But before this game we've been huff and puff for a long time now. This lot would embarrass us in a European tournament.

If Moyes is staying and he really is determined to 'freshen things up' we need to sort out a sizeable squad that gives us competition for places all over the pitch. Sell to buy is just going to store up the same lot of problems again and we'll continue to have Jekyll and Hyde seasons. Fair enough, we're hanging in at the shake up for grim death at the moment, which shows a good deal of heart, but we need to be able to change games like that one and go to town on teams like Stoke threatening to pull off a shock result. We cant afford to limp over the line in games.

I,d push Johhny up into the middle next week and mark Bale. Johnny is a niggle so and so and could break up the play to him for 45 mins.

I´m sure Moyes wouldn´t mind a sizeable squad, if there was money to buy one.

Most teams in this league limp over line in most matches they win. Spurs have won loads of matches this season by a one goal margin hanging on for bitter life before the end. Difference between them and us is they´ve managed to avoid shipping goals in stoppage time.

Great still to be in the mix for 4th with 8 games to go. However we look a totally different side to the one in the first half of the season. Sorry to be so pessimistic, but even utd would do well to close the gap with the away fixtures we have lined up. 6th place at best, lets just hope we hold off the RS!!

Did it to van der vaart, I suppose. We'll be sitting very deep all afternoon against them next Sunday. I dont expect to see Bale galloping into space behind the CBs.

Spurs have the squad to get those extra points...and they've been bogged down playing Thursday/Sunday for the entire season almost.

We're running on fumes here though. This is as good as it gets under the usual core of 16 or so players Moyes will trust to bring into the first team. Realistically, we need to be spending £15M-£20M net this summer to bridge the gap to the real scrap for the last CL place.

If, and it's a big if, we were to beat Spurs next week then we'd be in a great position with a fresh Fellaini and Pienaar to come back into the side...

Chin up lad!

Great result today. It was never going to be a spectacle because, let's face it, Stoke are god awful. I didn't watch the whole match but from what I saw, we did what we had to do, Stoke tried to make it into as much of a rugby match as possible, the ref made some shocking decisions and Mirallas is the sex.

It was just the same old same old wasn't it, the passion and intensity from last week left at finch farm, if we had shown that desire we would have trounced these today but no more pedestrian crap against inferior opposition.
