Good spirit, no question. It's hard to match them when they're up for it, and they were today. But I'm told this is the best squad since the 80s. I think we can expect a bit more than holding on for grim death against that lot.

A performance about 200% better required for next time out, that's for sure.

Totally agree. I think we are the same wavelength.

Back to a more familiar Everton team formation for Spurs next week I reckon. Didn't see anything in that that would make me want to play it against Spurs. Bale would have a field day in the space behind the wingback

Good solid performance today . Bit shaky first 20 minutes but cleaned up afterwards . Why do we keep hoofing it thought . Baines ran his socks of but wasnt effective as usual because he had no one to combine with same with coleman . Next game i would play 4-3-3 with barkley coming in for heintiga in the centre

Brilliant, brilliant result. Can't understate how awkward Stoke are; well done to David Moyes for the tactical awareness to switch to a new system, spot on, surprised me massively but absolutely spot on.

It's hard to smash apart a side like Stoke lads. Celebrate a fantastic win.

I can't see us playing 3-4-3 again. It made sense to play against Stoke 'cause they don't have an out and out attacking threat and it put a lot of pressure on Huth and Shawcross. Otherwise, I thought the team looked really shakey, don't think they were used to playing in such a different formation.

Gibbo is my motm with Mirallas a close second. Gibbo spread the play wonderfully and has some fantastic tackles and what a goal from Mirallas! I thought Osman was woeful today, he got stuck in but then would misplay some very easy passes. Still doesn't look like Jelavic is anywhere near back to form, he's not doing a good job with through balls or hoofs. Nice to see Barkley, he had some nice passes and never should've got a card.

The bench looked really weak without a proper striker on it. Naismith would've gotten chewed up if he was put on. What has happened to Vellios?

We didn't play 3-5-2 today. We played 5-3-2 and occasionally 4-4-2 before finishing with 5-4-1. I think we were 3-6-1 at some point too.

At one point we were playing a 4-1-2-2-1 with the first 1 being Coleman completely lost out on the right! :D

what did you lads think of the formation?(saves starting a new thread about it)

i thought it was very interesting if it was designed to encourage a team to come at us instead of play for a draw. Not sure it was best against stoke, a team who i think would have come to try and win regardless, would be more suitable for a team like norwich imo, however, wouldn't be too great to see one of our better midfielders replaced by heitinga to suit it. it definitely wouldn't be an option against one of the top top sides, but i doubt moyes would do that.

was good to see him try something different though, just not quite sure it worked. Then again we won and it's almost impossible for a team to click from the first minute under something experimental

A couple of points

Dire performance but who has,nt had one against stoke in this league or any other season.

We actually saw out a game professional manner - Two clean sheets back to back !

Fair play to Moyes for going with a new formation to try to get the 3 points.

Be happy onwards to spurs and bale. We might just catch them on the day as they may see us an easy win, could work for us.
